Work Visa for EU National

I want to employ an EU national in my UK company. No one else will do, it's them or no one.

Does anyone have any experience in applying for a work visa? I understand there is a points-based system now and the amount that they are going to be paid is a significant factor.

My Romanian friends seem to have no problem at all getting permission to come over as delivery drivers.

My reading of this is that you need to be applying for a Skilled Worker position and that you need to score a certain number of points. Is 70 the target number and if you achieve that is the application guaranteed to be approved?

Do you know how long the process takes?

This, if they can meet the required criteria it still doesnt guarantee that it will be allowed.
