Android Screen recommendations
Discussion
Yo. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for an android screen? There seem to be tons of similar products on the market at similar price points, and the odd one for £400+. Something like this.
I believe you can switch between the android system and the original car system much like switching inputs on your TV or monitor. Do things like reverse cam always take focus as expected?
Is audio quality good - I believe you pair the media audio to the original system via bluetooth.
Do you make voice phone calls through the android system or still paired to the car?
Cheers ears

Don't get a screen, get a MMI box imo.
I've recently fitted a mr12volt MMI box. It uses the OEM MOST loop for audio so it's by far the best option for audio quality.
I load the MMI using the CD changer function (or button on the idrive controller), then can change back using any other button.
It's one of the best thing's I've done. It feels exactly like the factory system to use.

Thanks, I was looking at MMI boxes too but my screen isn't touch screen and I understand Android Auto does work with the idrive clicker but I thought it might be annoying. They are half the price though, tempting.I've recently fitted a mr12volt MMI box. It uses the OEM MOST loop for audio so it's by far the best option for audio quality.

I had the same reservations but it's actually really easy to use with the idrive controller.Yes it's not as fast, but it's still perfectly manageable.
My main reason for not choosing a screen was that in my 5er, the screen is too far away to touch anyway and android screens look terrible if they're not a replacment for the original (some sit infront of the oem screen)

Maybe MMI is the way then. I like the idea of the MOST connection as a lot of them have reviews that mention poor audio quality. Cheers.Yes it's not as fast, but it's still perfectly manageable.

I bought an Andream for my E92 based on many positive reviews on the forums etc but it's been problematic to say the least. I was getting a popping/crackling through some of the channels when listening CarPlay audio and they've sent out new looms and screen units to no avail. I'm now wondering if the first unit has damaged the OE head unit (it's the base audio system so no separate amp). Add to that lots of random software bugs and it's left me wishing I had paid a bit more for a mr12volt!

Does the E92 have its own data access?
I'd swear it gets live traffic without being connected to a phone.
Think that comes over the FM radio waves rather than a data connection. Could be wrong.I'd swear it gets live traffic without being connected to a phone.
ETA: Mine had the BMW Assist data connection but that was 2G and has all been retired.

Also, don't they have the emergency call button. How does that connect?

To be clear, I meant the Nav traffic info. That can be read from radio can it?

Sorry, don't think I've ever used the nav on my CCC iDrive, thought you meant the traffic updates (details here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14...Also, don't they have the emergency call button. How does that connect?
And see my ETA above re emergency call button.
Sorry to hijack OP!
