Compromise between 4/2 wheel drive and power when towing?
Discussion
Hi, I am looking at the upcoming Dacia Bigster as a tow vehicle. There are two models in contention. Dacia confirm that they will tow 1500 KG which is more than enough. The choice is between a 130 HP 4 wheel drive or a 140 HP 2 wheel drive. I don't have the torque figures and economy is a secondary consideration. Which would be best? Is it worth sacrificing 10 HP for the benefits of 4 wheel drive?
It depends where you are towing it.
You dont need 4wd to tow 1500kg on the road unless its snowing or you are doing the Hardknott Pass on ditch finders.
However obviously if you are going over wet grass, its going to be a life saver.
The difference between 130 and 140 is about 7% so you wont really notice that either.
