Could anyone recommend one?
After being out of power for 14 hours yesterday (and this included the local mobile mast going down, so no 3/4 G, or even a phone signal), it’s time for me to consider what I need. We were lucky in the sense we have an oil powered Rayburn (the only bloody time it’s actually been worth having) and a multifuel stove, so we had heat, but due to what I can best describe as ‘neurodiversity’ I need sound, and not just for updates.
Would a wind up radio be better? Same question applies for torches as well.
Anything other suggestions welcome - we’re not in the middle of nowhere, but we’re quite a long way from ‘somewhere’ if you know what I mean. I’m also crap at remembering to charge stuff up, and would be extremely dangerous trying to feed a generator into the domestic feed.
No, I’m not a walt by the way! I don’t need a knackered discovery or a flask of weak lemon drink.
ETA: ideally something that through frantic hand cranking (ha) could also charge an iPhone (with appropriate connectors)

I have a small Roberts DAB/FM radio but we never use it.
Terrible signals here.
And I'm not a fan of flapjaw Djs.
Anything portable (that isn't rechargeable) I try to stick to AA batteries and I've normally got plenty of those in the house.
I think in theory, the freesat box could be run from a car battery, but you'd need to power the TV as well, at least while finding a radio channel.
I do have an old TV which runs off 12V
