Recently changed from an F87 OG just a few thoughts after three weeks and a few brisk drives.
The F87 had a few modifications the most important of which was much better M Performance coilovers which made a huge improvement.
However the Cayman though not PASM is more supple again, though at some point I may go down the Ohlins route. I didn’t want PASM as the car is used mostly in anger and neither setting with PASM is perfect for the bumpy fast roads I drive on plus didn’t want PADM.
The steering though not particularly feelsome is fantastically accurate and linear. Definitely more under steer balance than M2 but modern M cars have terrier like front ends, plus I might be able to dial this out with some geo changes.
Exhaust and engine noise are completely different obviously, I hated the Soundaktor drone so pulled the fuse for that and a big difference, less drama but the effect is contrived and unpleasant and makes the car sound like a GT86. No brainer for longer distances.
Brakes are superb in feel and power and no fading so far. Cabin is a better quality all around and seats comfortable and supportive.
The lower driver position makes a difference as your not so aware of the forces during direction change. Averaging 14 mpg which beats the M2 bearing in mind the roads I drive etc.
Tyre wise it’s on PS4S. I might give the new Falken RS820 a go I’ve heard good things. I’m
Hoping the car is slightly kinder on its rubber than the M2.
