Canyon spectral
Discussion
Thinking of getting a new MTB currently have a Cube Fritzz from 2011 and looking at a Canyon Spectral 27.5. CF9. Any thoughts or is there anything better for £3500 ish?.
Will be mostly used on tight twisty single track not interested in jumps or anything like that so guess it will have a relatively easy life. Im in New Zealand so not sure all uk stuff is available but hit me with ideas and i will investigate.

A mate has a lower spec Spectral (alloy 6 I think) and seems to like it. The thing that makes me hesitant about Canyon is being direct to consumer they may not have much in the way of local support if something goes wrong, and their customer service reputation doesn't seem to be stellar.
Have a look at Giant Trance X or Trek Fuel for other good options in that category which often have good deals and more local support. Depending how rough the trails you are riding a shorter travel bike might be something to consider too, a Spectral might be overkill for your needs and less fun on mellower trails.
If you aren't into jumping then I'd go 29" instead of 27.5", it mostly seems to be people who are into jumping that still prefer 27.5".
What part of NZ are you in? Fellow Kiwi here, I'm in the deep south.

A mate of mine runs a Spectral and has nothing but good things to say about it, I think at this price point as long as you buy the right bike for your type of riding you shouldn't go too far wrong.
As mentioned above, I would recommend a 29er over 27.5 for fast or techy trail riding. I've got a Trek Top-Fuel which is excellent, its 29er 130mm travel, very efficient at climbing but also fast and fun on the descents.
I've heard good things about the Mondrakers in this category too so they might be worth a look (if available in your market of course). Santa Cruz always make great bikes but cost a bit much IMO.

For that length of travel look at Mondraker Raze R (or Foxy for more travel). My daughter rides one, incredible bike, so fast, Fox fork/shocks. She swapped it from 29" to 27.5" as she is quite small. We ride bike parks weekly here and after a year of riding all over Europe it still looks and rides like new.
Ronan Dunne, Mondraker's pro rider is ripping up the NZ trails currently and won the first race.

I have a Spectral:On CF8
Used for everything from riding to the local pub to Forest of Dean.
It's versatile, comfortable, great fun and gives you loads of confidence as a mullet.
My third bike bought direct from Canyon in the last 10 years I have never had issue with any of them.
