Inspired by the digital driving licence thread, who still regularly uses their wallet? I don’t have a wallet anymore, since I use my phone to pay for anything that I buy.

I'm not keen on having everything on one device especially if it is running low on battery life. I would rather carry a wallet than a powerpack in my pocket! (The lighter powerpacks only give you about 20%.)

Also, some places/people still prefer cash. And I prefer to tip in cash as it has less chance of disappearing into the general accounts of a restaurant if it's all in a bowl by the till.

This. Always have cash on me, I use cards rather than my phone to pay

Looked in mine for some cash recently and only found Euros! That said I do usually carry it, as a backup in case phone battery dies etc.

I have my grandfathers wallet that he bought in Burma in 1947, plus several of my own.

I still use cash and cards so indispensable really

Always leave house with phone, wallet and keys.

Wallet is a very compact affair, enough space for a few cards, licence etc, and a few crisp notes.

I can't see how anyone can survive without one, even if you ignore the obvious cards and cash, there are receipts, business cards, driving licence, membership/rewards cards in my wallet which I need all of, even when the digital licence comes in I'll still carry my old one, I'd rather not be at the mercy of DVLAs super reliable IT system.

My wife on the other hand has purses, full of stuff, but leaves them at home in favour of phone. Which regularly doesn't work properly so wanting to be out of the hell hole shop we are in I end up putting my card on the machine. A suspicious person would say this is not accidental.

I hate the idea of not having my wallet, I'd dump my phone happily, but not my wallet. With my wallet (and some cash) and my car keys I feel free.

What I really hate are those stupid ridge wallets and the copies that the YouTubers shill for money. Here have something that takes up nearly as much room as your old wallet but is a quarter as useful, but look press a button and your cards pop out. Woo.

I do.

It's good to carry at least one physical bank card, and a bit of cash. There there are things like drivers licence, tickets, stamps etc. It's just handy to have that all in one place.

I use Google Pay any time I can just for convenience, but I still always have my wallet on me as there's enough other bits I like to have with me like a few notes and loose change, bank card for when phone payment isn't available / working, student ID for discounts, work-related H&S cards for working on sites, shooting-related cards like competition member card and insurance card..

I haven't used a wallet for about 3 years and it's surprising how little I miss it! I used to have pocketfuls of receipts but now whenever I get one I just photograph it then bin the paper copy. I never use cash so everything's on Apple pay. I have a photo of my driving licence which has worked for hire cars (although to be fair I did have the actual licence in my pocket 'just in case'). Nearly everything is an app now, my loyalty cards, discount cards etc are all on an app. With contactless, physical cards are more of a security risk due to the higher limit without a PIN, whereas Apple Pay needs my face, which very few people have.

I do know of people who prefer to pay for everything with cash, but to me that's just a pain to carry (and most shopkeepers won't thank you for it, despite what those who protest on their behalf would have you think).

Stamps? How quaint... where do you keep your quill?

Soz.

I too carry a wallet, just a debit card, credit card, DL and some cash. I use phone to pay more often than not, but like the reassurance of the wallet, just in case.

Me, but only recently started to again!

I've found a crappy dumb phone at work, the next afternoon beers I do, I'm swapping sim cards and taking it, with my wallet and buying a paper!

Happy simple times ahead!

Haven’t used one for 5+ years. All membership cards are digital on my phone a lot of receipts you can now get digitally or just put it in the bag with what you’ve purchased.

I do have an apple 3 card magnetic holder on my phone with licence in and a card for pay at pump but if digital licence works well I’ll probably ditch it as I’ll have no further need to carry it.

I have a hardshell case for my cards, that’s all. No cash, no receipts for several years now. My aunty had obviously noticed this and bought me a branded leather wallet for Christmas which now sits in a drawer where it’ll likely be for many years to come.

I carry my work ID at all times so stick my license and bank card in there.

Need to include age in voting options. PH is older than average which will skew the results significantly.

Yep it's like a spare wheel isn't it, you don't need it 99% of the time but it's reassuring to know it's there. Plus I can't be arsed with adding even more apps to my phone.
