I'm a new owner of a 22 plate F57 Convertible and I want to understand precisely how each driving mode affects the behaviour of the car. Any one able to point me in the right direction, please? My understanding so far is:

1) Using the Sport/Normal/Green 3 position switch affects the shift points when accelerating (i.e. sport holds onto a lower gear for a bit longer), and sport mode is louder - I'm not sure if the volume actually comes from the exhaust or if it's fake. Presumably Green is even later to shift up than Normal. Steering is heavier in Sport.

2) Tapping the gear selector left into S means the gearbox selects the gear with the highest torque for any given road speed, regardless if you're actually on the throttle at that moment - i.e. it won't shift up for more economy/lower revs when off the throttle, and always has the best gear selected. It's is useful to tap into if you're anticipating an overtake, say, so there's no delay as the auto selects a lower gear when you get on the throttle suddenly.

3) S always seems to have the fastest gear selected making M a bit redundant, except just for fun.

Are there any detailed write-ups of the precise behaviours for each mode? Cheers smile
