Fvcking hell

frown:

His work with TL was marvellous, and I still maintain this is one of the best rock guitar solos ever; period (@ 3:21):-

quite sad to hear this - Blue Murder is one of my all time fav albums, always a fan of his guitar work across his several bands.

Well 65 is far too young - but it was cancer which is unforgiving of even the young.
Highlight for me would be - Tygers of Pan Tang Spellbound and the riffage on Don't Stop By.
Then John Sykes' work on Whitesnake's eponymous album. Hair Metal at its finest, pinch harmonics, beautiful tone and riffs. Huge on MTV.
Sold millions and stands up well today.
RIP

Met him one night and he seemed like a really nice guy. As a massive Thin Lizzy fan that his work is be most familiar with. RIP John.

On the post of above re their solo on Still in Love With You. Not John’s, but a great story attached to that.
Gary Moore had written it but had left the band, the. Band passed it off to the record company as one Robbo (only about 20ish at the time) had written. Securing a better deal on the back of, if he wrote this already what’s coming down the line smile

As a big Thin Lizzy fan that is terrible news - RIP.

As a 65 year old it makes me feel fortunate.

Came here to say the very same thing, Blue Murder were great, just a shame they fizzled out really
