I had not heard much about these guys until recently.

https://www.globalairlines.com/

I’m curious as to why they seem to think it’s going to be a viable service using 4 A380 Aircraft.

It seems an odd decision when all the existing commercial operators are moving away from the A380 airframes due to the high running and maintenance costs?

Probably cheap (relatively) to lease A380s that no one else wants to use than have the owners have them sitting around doing nothing.

Maybe they realise that the A380 is a lovely plane to fly on. Unfortunately most airlines prefer the cheap nasty B777 which is like a cattle train by comparison!

Airlines that have survived decades are probably best placed to decide which is the wiser choice of airframe. A380’s are great for some things, not so great for others. That only one major airline maintains more than a handful of them says all that needs to be said about their commercial viability, that airline operates a hub and spoke system which is not what global will do. I’m happy to be wrong but I can’t see them lasting long.

It's all utter nonsense. Similar to that fantasist young lad a few years back who was ex check in staff who made out he was starting an airline. Anyone who poined out on Twitter he was talking bolleau got blocked, and there was always some new excuse as to why each of his wild statements didn't actually happen. Complete and utter bobbins.

They talk about improving the overall experience, referencing security queues, delays and terrible food. I guess they can probably influence the food but it’s a bold claim to be able to get around airport security, air traffic control and ground handling.

Seems that Korean Air are going to keep their fleet of A380 Aircraft in service for longer than they had planned.

I remember reading about this in the local rag a few months back as I believe the A380 is currently sitting at Prestwick Airport.

They operate a long haul fleet of ~90 aircraft and they have just 7 A380’s. There’s a place for A380’s in many fleets but only one airline has more than a dozen and that’s Emirates and this bunch are planning on operating an A380 only fleet, it’s a bold move.

I've got the popcorn ready for when they all of a sudden can't pay the bills and their only aircraft gets impounded.

Is it even theirs? It shows on Flightradar as “operated by Hi-Fly Malta”
Personally I’ll be surprised if they manage to operate a single flight and amazed if they last a year. Buy a ticket if you can get an ATOL certificate I guess!

It wouldn't matter that Hi Fly are the owners, a creditor can get a lien against the aircraft and it would be grounded until debts are paid.

This "airline" won't operate a single commercial flight it's a complete vaporware entity spouting nonsense. Hopefully they don't suck in gullible people who lose money before this all goes Dolly Parton.

Interesting ... I hadn't heard of them either.

Must have made a lot of "investments" with no income yet, so a risky idea to buy a ticket in advance.

But if they can sell all 400+ seats on USA trips then it may work.

I know a yacht broker that required an email address to view photos of boats for sale, he harvested email addresses and sold them, that was his business, it didnt matter to him if he sold boats or not.

Maybe this airline is the same, I dunno, website seems very keen for me to register.
