Oxidation of allloy wheels
Discussion
Pic probably doesn’t show it as bad as what it is , I expected it as said to daughter those polished wheels won’t stay new for long .
But what’s baffling me is why are the back wheels a lot worse , the pic may not show it but the centres are now grey on the back wheels whereas the front arnt bad at all , so I rule out wheel cleaner , as front / back would both be bad , so what the difference ?
Secondly Is there anyway other than a refurbished to bring them back to as new / or better ? Thankyou

Assuming you haven't owned it from brand new & zooming in on the wheels as much as it will let me, it looks like they've been refurbished previously and it is the poor finish that is failing.
Any close up pics?
It’s daughters car , it was nearly new , maybe a couple of 1000 miles when she got it ( I’ll have to check that ) , she definitely hasn’t had wheels refurbed , car has done apx 16000 Any close up pics?

That finish is the stuff of nightmares for wheel refurbishers.
Found mostly on the top of the range models, called Vignalte or something, yrs ago called Ghia.
It’s an effect coat, very “Chromey”, and very difficult to replicate. Never lasts long, even worse if strong wheel cleaners are used.
My guess, it’s coming off, maybe they were touched up by dealer before she bought it, by a man in a van.

^^ was about to say the same thing. Remember the chrome wheels that were an option on Mondeo Ghia X’s years ago? Often found flaking with the special red undercoat/primer underneath to make it look especially s
t.
Id tolerate until it looks really rubbish then get them dipped and powdercoated.

Yes it’s a vignale ( fiesta ) , possibly redone before she got it , but I’m sure it had only done 2,000 ish miles Found mostly on the top of the range models, called Vignalte or something, yrs ago called Ghia.

Back wheels are nearly grey now , daughters going to ask Ford about it as car in tomorrow , strangely saw one the other day & it looked like his wheels had been sprayed grey , but more than likely finish going .
Don’t hold out much hope but no harm in asking
