Hi All, does anyone have recommendations for luggage that fits onto the rear seats of a 2+2 DB9? Planning to take the car across to the continent for the first time.

I have cream truffle seats which scratch easily so i'm conscious about marking them. I'd also like something that's relatively secure for when the roof is off (though i'm sure the bucket nature of the little seats is such that most bags would stay put)

I have a volante so the boot capacity is absolutely laughable for the size of the car - one can *just* about fit a single carry-on suitcase so long as it's not packed too tightly or expanded.

Bag World. https://bag-world.co/

It sounds entry level, but I promise you, they are fantastic. Email them and have a chat about what your preferences are (leather or PU) and colours etc.

They make bespoke matched luggage for just about anything. Genuinely nice people too, Colin is a real gent and passionate about the quality of the bags they make.

Nothing entry level about Bag-world and Colin but otherwise agree with every word you said.
He made me a set of bags for my R8 coupe and everything from spec to delivery was first class.
The price was also extremely competitive and dare I say it "cheap " in comparison to what Aston normally want.

I'd second Bagworld and Colin who runs it.

Really made to order, the designs fit the boot and back seats perfectly and you can choose whatever material , colours etc that you want.

In the days of the 'Grande Tour', I think one's butler arranged for one's luggage to be sent on ahead, awaiting one's arrival at each hotel or palace.

If that might not be possible, then I would recommend using an Aston Martin Vantage Coupe. There is so much luggage space, that we have even seen photographs on here, of a bicycle stowed in the boot.

The same is done when one takes an organized motorcycle tour. Pack the bags in the morning and they find there way to the next hotel, waiting in your room. Nice way to tour without being overly encumbered with luggage.

That looks good!

But it would be too many individual bags for me to carry. Is this due to the shape of the trunk or could you also use larger, specially shaped bags?

The bags are matched and fitted luggage. This means Colin takes the internal dimensions of the boot and then plays Tetris with his designs so that you can make use of as much of the volume as possible. Do note that our friend with the very lovely DB9S seems to have gone for the fully optioned package, complete with bags designed for the back seats as well as the boot.

I've just bought some fitted luggage for a 911 from

https://www.roadsterbag.com/

However, I just checked their pricing for a DB9 and it's astronomical. However, it might be worth putting a call into them as they do make luggage in other materials (it's all hand made) and you might be able to get a deal.

Alternatively

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204645378440?_skw=db9+l...

I haven't used fitted luggage before and I've yet to try out the luggage I've just bought - but it does seem better than assorted bags.

What’s wrong with a couple of soft holdalls that will squish to the shape of the seats or boot? I couldn’t care less what a hotel porter thinks of my luggage and whether it’s branded or matches the car.

I don't think it's the visual appeal so much as the use of space. I've used soft holdalls for many years in a variety of two seaters from Lamborghinis to Morgans - it always feels a bit disorganised and not the best use of the limited space.

Nothing. But if we were all content with "that'll do the job" we'd be sat behind the wheel of a Honda Jazz. It's nice to have something a bit more unique, a bit more special whilst also being more practical and efficient.

It's worth noting that when I say "bespoke" I mean it. If you tell Colin you want anonymous black canvas, he'll do it. It doesn't HAVE to be colour coded to your car with the emblem and your initials embroidered into each one, but the fact it can be is OK too.

I love my car and I don't plan to part with it, which is why having its own luggage felt like a nice touch. It seemed to me like a way of personalising it, but in a useful way rather than getting tints and black alloys.

This is usually me being the porter, while wife and kids leisurely observe me struggle biggrin

I think having fitted luggage does look rather special, would almost quite like it for my birthday but suspect the cost would be fairly high.

I had some custom bags made from sails I think, really sturdy and still going after many flights and can flex into shape you need as long as you do not overfill them, but them not being leather or PU still made them fair pricy, so suspect the custom fitted ones like could be had from Aston would not be that much cheaper than Aston one, surely?

The different shapes and sizes are to fit the maximum amount of luggage in easily.

In the case of my DB9 Volante - the opening of the boot is narrower than the boot so the two small one go in first , either side of the opening, then the two larger ones fit in the centre of the boot.

The two strange shaped ones are designed to fit on the rear seats.

we did a 17 day trip round Europe and needed as much space as possible, whilst being tidy and organised.

The prices are surprisingly low, I think I paid around £600 for the full set, customised to my specification.

Nothing wrong at all but for some cars knowing that the bags will fit irrespective of how they are filled is quite useful sometimes.
My R8 front boot takes 3 reasonable size custom made bags and also 2 “ shoe bags “ for instance.
Then behind the front seats a further 2 bags available to sit on the ledge.
Iirc the 5 front bags were around £700 inc vat and vinyl to the same design was about half of this.
