Best of Ireland
Discussion
A few of us are planning a week or so in the fair isle later this year. Ferry from Liverpool to Belfast to see the Titanic museum and Giants causeway. From there please recommend other places worth seeing around the island, anything considered from breweries/distilleries to west coast scenic drives. What or where to avoid as well would be useful. Happy to return via any ferry route.
If it is OK for information sharing, please see this link to a local website which describes the best driving roads. You need to read it and do your own googling and maybe realise that some of it is a bit old and compare with Google Maps because someone has sprayed bypasses and motorways over a lot of the country but the thrust of this thread is more remote and fun driving roads which by definition rarely need bypasses and EV charging stations.

Happy to answer questions.
Here are the answers I gave recently in a more limited whatsapp user group.
It’s important to realize that a flashing blue light from the Garda Siochana (Irelands police force) is an instruction to v max your Ferrari for their entertainment.
The roads around the west coast have been used by the US Air Force in a little publicised test firing of aircraft runway disabling cluster munitions.
Irish sheep come with coloured markings on them. The most prized is Rosso Corsa. They are trained to shoot out in front of you if you are driving a Rosso Corsa Ferrari. It’s called resale red at the sheep marts.
Irish petrol is confined to (a) electric car charging (b) diesel (c) crude oil. 98 octane is reserved for Molotov Cocktails.
During the pandemic, the Green Party was in power. Someone gave the county councils about €1bn and they spent it on bicycle lane parts which were delivered by cluster bombing all suburban roads.
On a serious note, do not exceed the speed limit on the M7. There is a judge in Kildare who hands out jail sentences and would be glad to impose the death penalty. Doing 200 leptons in a UK reg [insert exotic] will drive him to hanging, drawing and quartering you.
Given that I am Irish I have kind of driven my 458 a bit in Ireland. If you have any specific questions do let me know. It’s not Somalia despite what the Daily Mail may say (not suggesting you read that). It will be fine. It can be as boring and frustrating as Reading or as spectacular as Scotland.
