Goodbye old friend, hello new cat
Discussion
Elsewhere here I started the thread about euthanasia of pets at home. Our lovely black and white DSH, at the age of 12.5, developed squamous cell carcinoma. From apparent healthy cat to no cat in around 8 weeks. Heartbreakingly, she was PTS on 23rd December. She arrived as a 5 year old RSPCA rescue, very broken mentally, but flourished into the most wonderful cat you could possibly imagine. It was very upsetting.
Christmas, new year and then my birthday later, not yet 3 weeks since we lost Poppy, we have a new member of the family. Currently nameless.
This little girl melted our hearts when we saw her picture. We went to meet her this afternoon, and after a couple of hours under the sofa being left to adjust, she has finally emerged.

I still miss our Poppy - she was wonderful, but we move on. We have never had a kitten before, in 25 years of cats (owning us), and everyone told us don't, and certainly not a Siamese. But here we are. Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day.

Thank you so much. I think Siamese must be nuclear powered. Plays none stop which is lovely to participate in. We have a shift system in place for one person to take over from another, as we are getting tired before her.
What is particularly different is that this kitten fetches balls. 11 weeks old today, but runs after a ball, picks up and brings it back to do the same again. How do they learn things like that so early? Must be innate.

Lovely kitten.
I can't help with Siamese kitten behaviour as I've not had cats before and ours were 14 when we got got them. They are very intelligent though.
When they were chasing each other around the house one day, as they were side by side, Tiny put out a paw and deliberately tripped Snowy up.
You can also train them to walk on a lead like dogs.

Kittens have a bottomless well of energy, siamese even more so!What is particularly different is that this kitten fetches balls. 11 weeks old today, but runs after a ball, picks up and brings it back to do the same again. How do they learn things like that so early? Must be innate.
Yep, very clever - our old one used to love getting 'bowled' along the shiny wooden floor, and would run back to go again. Started as a kitten, continued until he was very old...
Nice cat. We’ve had a couple of Siamese in the past - not only did they fetch, they were the most vocal cats we’ve ever had. It was possible to hold quite long ‘conversations’ with them. Last few cats have been Burmese…one of them fetches, but far quieter/chilled than the Siamese. Our longest lived Siamese lasted just over 20 years…so you’re in it for the long haul. Enjoy

Thanks everyone. Can't wait to collect my lad from college. We need another play shift now.
Can't believe the size of appetite and speed of eating. It's like a piranha out of water.
From that...the use of the litter tray. I swear she knows her name and has pooed it in morse code.
I only have one long deep scratch on my legs. It looks like when they take a vein for bypass surgery.
This is Day 2.

Day 5.
I'm in love. Little Gigi is settling so well with us. No accidents, sleeps well, eats anything/everything.
My first experience of a kitten and first experience of a Siamese. She is very engaging. When meeting someone new, she goes over chats and stares them right in the eye. Surprisingly confident and more so than I would have thought for 12 weeks old.
I get the 'conversation' thing. Meow at her, she meows back parrot fashion.
She likes to play and play. Feathers on a stick....she will play for ages chasingvand catching. 10 seconds recovery and she is off again.
Three adults in our house, we all involve ourselves with her, and she will curl up and nap with any of us.
So far....so good.

Beautiful puss cat, she sounds an absolute delight.
We have a couple of kittens, not Siamese, and one sounds like yours. Always wanting to play fetch, if you dont thro it for her she will bat it across the floor and chase it herself and i swear sometimes i have seen the other kitten “throw” it for her!
Hope you all have a wonderful life together.
By the way Poppy looks stunning, I have not yet lost a cat but my heart goes to you all x
