Hi - Newbie 500 owner - bit slow window on passenger side - also doesn't go fully up unless you give it a little tug.

Drivers side works fine. Have checked earthing - seems OK - glazing seal looks a bit degraded.

Can you get new ones? Are they easy to fit? Wanted to check out cheap options before buying a new motor.

Thanks for your help.

Try a spray of silicon grease on the rubber strips.... makes it slide easier .... disadvantage ... get smear marks on the glass
The motors are also weak... Drivers side I tend to pull up from inside... usually close passenger side before I start driving smile

You can get the window channel from Woolies, though you do need to take the door trim off and dis-assemble some of the window mech to access them

https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/p-1485-universal-wi...

And the bubble seal that runs all the way round the door aperture and windscreen surround is also easily available, if that’s tired and needs replacing.

Try the lubricant in your current window channels first, as that might make enough difference. I ended up taking both my doors apart a couple of years ago, took the glass out, changed the window channel trim, cleaned up the electrical connections, greased the motor gears and (the bit that took me ages) tried to better align the glass channels in the doors to get the window running up and down as smoothly as possible. (Using washers under the various points where the window regulator is). I could never get them completely free of distortion throughout the range of glass travel, but regardless the windows absolutely fly up and down now (well, relative to the usual Griff speed anyway!). I think I took a few photos so can share if that helps.

There are a few threads here on getting the interior door trim off, but plenty of help available on any aspect if you need it!

Enjoy your car

The rubber in the window channels has a sort of felt covering, this wears off and as we all know rubber is grippy whereas felt is slippy.
Spraying lube is a short term fix.

Corrosion in connections and switches can also be an Issue, reducing voltage to motor.

Thank you so much for all of you have responded. I'll start with the simple stuff - check switches and motor gearing. I appreciate that the silicon spray is only a temporary fix and I think that I'll replace the seals anyway.
