Spa Events 2025 Recommendations
Discussion
Hi,
I’m doing a buit of a road trip with my son (7) who is car mad in March or April. We go to castle combe a lot and to be honest he’s into most of the racing, possibly the GT’s cos they’re the coolest cars (for a 7 year old) but also the minis and anything with a BMW badge on. I’ve not booked yet but looking at the following events, probably for 1 or 2 days in September. Events I’m looking at are World Endurance Championships, International GT open or Spa Summer Classic. I’m less keen on the as its WEC but they do have GT’s racing too but questions really are:
1. Any recommendations and
2. Presumably they have full days of racing (like UK events – its not just the GT championship for example). I suspect not but always better to ask stupid questions
TIA

If it's the first time for you, just being there will be an event.
It's possible to walk the circuit - highly recommended.
It's not as difficult as it seems and is well signposted.
Plenty of famous corners to get to know.
Sit in the grandstand for Eau Rouge.
There's an upper floor viewing area also with the course restaurant. Looking down onto the pits entrance and pits.
None of this will cost anything.
There's the fuelling station.
For me, getting to know the circuit again after our last visit, circa 2005 was epic.
The Spa Summer Classic will be great - I'll be there if you want any on the days help or tips.

I've been to the WEC, GT Open and 24 hours at Spa in recent seasons.
Expect over 70k people at the WEC and 24 hours events with associated issues with car parks, grandstand seats and local hotels. Not insurmountable issues if you get there early enough but not ideal if it's your first time (or in a while). The benefits, other than the absolute world class racing, are the open Paddocks and all sorts of extra bits and pieces like big wheels, manufacturer stands, merch etc.
Last year the GT Open event in May had a 3 hour GT3 race and another support race for Porsche and Ferrari cup cars plus single seaters like FRECA and for 25 season touring cars in the form of TCR Europe. It's a three day event and they'll be racing all day on the Sunday. It's free to enter although the car parks at Eau Rouge are chargeable. There's very little other frills but food options open including the buffet at the Pits Restaurant.
The Peter Auto event, Spa Classic and also in May, is great fun focussed mainly on historic sportscars/GTs but interspersed by track sessions with loads of modern exotica.

Went to the WEC 6H at Spa last year for the first time and as a regular Le Mans 24h attendee I was pleasantky surpsried how good it was, pit walk included in the ticket price, all grandstands were free and plenty of seats available, amazing variety of good views of the track and the ability to walk the complete circuit, weather was good which I gather was unusual. Yes there was a long queue into the car parks but just try and arrive early, I stayed in Liege and drove to Spa on race day but i'm hoping to stay with Lycian events this year who for the first time who are offering camping/food and bar for the WEC 6h close the circuit.
Thanks for all the advice. We're going for the GT open as it works more around dates but I think we're there on the Saturday - is that only qualifying - theres not much info to be found. Got a D tour booked via the Nürburgring as well to give him a little taster. I dont know why I'm doing this to him to be fair - I'm setting him up for years of expenses but he loves cars and I love cars so off we go
Last's year's GT Open timetable for Spa is here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&...
Interestingly the TCR Europe calendar makes no mention of Sunday May 18th - https://tcr-worldranking.com/news/item/tcr-europe-...
Both suggest races on the Saturday but the GT3 car race will be on the Sunday! Enjoy!

Lycian Events are no longer offering camping at this year's WEC 6h at Spa due to lack of interest!Gassing Station | Events & Meetings | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
