Your local (and other) towns's website will have an Annuaire des Associations.

Also, lesanciennes.com has a pretty good agenda of events by region.

Im not really into meets etc but there are a few companies in france that do some great organised short rallys on great roads where you can pay for your own hotels etc along route.

I find this the best way to find petrol heads who like driving rather than standing around nattering about cars at static meets, yawn..

Quite a few english get on them from different parts of france, so the restaurant stops etc arent painful if you dont speak french, though many of the french are very accommodating in talking english, especially if they’re from eastern or southern france.

The guys (french & english) are far less about showing off than the uk rally participants ive had time with, a much better crowd as a whole.

Besançon is not too far, particularly on the great roads of the Jura & Doubs départements. I have been to several www.vesontioclassiccars.fr coffee & cars type events - some better attended than others.
In the near future check out the Rallye de Neige et Glace based in Malbuisson in late Feb. I hope to check out some of the special stages.
Something not to be missed is the British Car Day that is held in Morges on Lac Léman between Geneva & Lausanne in September/October - a great variety of cars from F/CH. I had an article published in Classic & Sports Car magazine several years ago.
Will be following this thread because we have a second home in Malbuisson & I would like to see what others suggest in 01, 25, 39, 74 & possible 73 - as well as CH

Also, there’s a young guy i helped set up his new supercar rally company in and around Lot, dordogne, limousin etc after doing one of his closed stages rallys 2 years ago.

He now runs regular rallys (expats welcome) with closed stages, similar to the big one on corsica each year and they’re brilliant.

Pm me if you want details.

There's the CERN car club (https://club-automobile.web.cern.ch/en), which is mainly about using the workshop facilities - but you can meet car guys there.

A buddy of mine at CERN regularly does rallies in France and Switzerland, so there's definitely a car culture in the region.

I have a feeling that a lot of it is "tribal", so get yourself something "interesting" for the beautiful mountain roads and get stuck in smile

Bonjour B

Veteran of France for the last 12 years...I would suggest you survey the magazine rack of your local Intermarche or similar. One of the things I love about France is that print media is still thriving...
I rather like a few titles I buy to relax with an apero early evening such as:

Gazoline

in there you will find a schedule of all the meets and events by department. They have a website too which I'm sure can find.

Autoretro

I cannot recall whether these guys do the same listing like Gazoline, but I have certainly seen events advertised.

Hello,

Retrocalage references all events they're made aware of by region/department
https://retrocalage.com/
Going to one of these events near your location could help meeting people into cars.
