I hope everyone is ok for me to kick off the '25 season!

We didn't go away at Xmas as originally planned, so I am seeking a week break during the April Easter holiday. Really undecided whether to go to Gran Canaria, Fuerteuventure or Tenerife, but finally decided on Tenerife again. I was poised to book Iberostar Selection Anthelia (based on my friend's recommendation), but I changed my mind at the last minute and booked a cheapie B&B deal to revisit GF Isabel again. From recollection, my girls enjoyed the kids clubs and activities, plus both the pool was heated to a decent temperature, and the savings can go towards decent meals outside of the hotel (went HB before, and the hotel food was really dire!)

Although we are not going till 2nd April, I decide to check the weather at Costa Adeje anyway biggrin

Cant help much with where and what, but was just in discussion with the OH about April and a decent bit of sun. Looking at Lanzarote.

But following this thread now, for other island options.

And will try and book something this weekend.

We're off to Tenerife in April too. No idea exactly where as the OH has booked it. It'll be the first time for the kids though.

I won't make them walk up the volcano like my dad did to us though.

We are looking at Adeje / Caleta for end of March. Still trying to decide between going HB or B&B, but with a 5-monther with us I think HB would be best so long as there are decent a-la-carte options aside from the main buffet dinner.

GF Isabel is coming up consistently at a good price currently, so good to see a fellow PHer has stayed and indeed going back!

Other option is an AirBnB nearer to Caleta and then do it all self-catered etc. But I don't think the savings over HB in a hotel stacks up!

Just to mange your expectations, GF Isabel is a pretty average run of the mill resort (apartments furnishing are old, but fairly spacious compared to your usual hotel room off a corridor), but it has it's positives if you are traveling with kids or toddlers. We stayed at Sheraton Fuertueventura earlier this year which is on a different price point. Facilities and breakfast was great, perfect for adults, but according to my girls, the children entertainment wasn't up to scratch i.e. they want the cheesy mini disco where they can socialise with others kids, not listen to some adult singing in the posh piano bar, (I keep reminding to myself, these types of holiday is just a temporary stage of my girl's life biggrin ).

Fully understood! I think with a 5mo (7mo by the time we travel) the kids entertainment isn't as relevant for us - what is the food like at the hotel vs the local restaurants? We are considering going B&B basis rather than relying on the buffet dinner option.

Last year we stayed at the Dreams Tropical on the other side of the marina, but admittedly spent double the price of what GF Isabel is asking ..

All boils down to a combination of your budget and appreciation of food (imo, GF Isabel buffet is dire!)
Having done AI and HB over the last few seasons, I prefer B&B as it's an opportunity to get out of the hotel complex, and try some (hopefully) tasty food of my choice. No right or wrong, just go with what is suitable for you.

how long are you going for? :>

just got back from 3 weeks there and it flew by! weather was mostly nice!

was the first time I'd been in a couple of years, was worried about tall the 'tourists go home' stuff I'd read about online but in reality everyone was friendly and business was booming - perhaps it's on other islands ?

We stayed at GF Isabel in Dec-19 and as others have said, it's a fair bit cheaper than other offerings but you get what you pay for. It's fine, and can easily go for a walk into Adeje. We went to Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park in Feb last year and that was definitely a higher class resort, but we had to pay for it.

We are thinking of coming back in Feb for a couple of weeks as I retire at the end of January. We fancy renting an apartment for a change Does anyone have any recommendations for apartments in the Canaries. Doesn’t have to be Tenerife.

Our only stipulation would it would ideally need to be within walking distance to the amenities. We also realise it may be too short notice for February but I thought I would be working to the end of March.

Thanks

Anyone know if you can hire reasonably priced fun cars in Tenerife?

I know Hertz do an Alpine A110 in some locations, that would be perfect but not in Tenerife.

I've also seen you can hire supercars and while a 488 might be fun I reckon the Alpine would actually be more fun.

Budget say £200 a day, pushing maybe £250.

Bit the bullet and booked our week in March. Settled on going to FV as we've been to both Tenerife and Lanzarote before.

Booked in at the Sheraton on HB+ basis. I'm hoping that the first away trip with the baby is going to go smoothly - the 3 pools and direct beach access sold us on the Sheraton.

There is a company that rents Abarth 124 & 595. I cannot remember the name of them but I'm sure somebody posted about them towards the end of the Canary Islands 2024 thread.
