Classic Line UK Only Track Cover
Discussion
I have just been renewing CL insurance and happened to mention I was about to book some Spa track days and CL replied saying only UK days covered. I reverted asking to confirm Spa was now not covered, they replied:
"Unfortunately not at this time, we are waiting for the underwriters to confirm if going forward we will be able to cover non-UK tracks, however we have been given no timescales."
I am not sure whether this is from renewal and not affecting running policies but is this a re-run of Mannings underwriters withdrawing policies?

Balls! I renewed at the end of last year with a view to a couple of Spa and Zandvoort days this year!
I suspect (but did not ask) that the cover limit will apply to new policies like mine running from Feb 1 2025 and not to existing policies as happened with Mannings a few years ago when they stopped track cover - you should check.Spoke to classic line today as needed to change registration on my documents.
Raised this subject and told all European cover has been withdrawn regardless of when the policy was taken out. I chose CL in December for this cover so very disappointed, they are looking for alternative arrangements and hopefully will have update end of February.

That's pretty awful unless they have written to all policyholders
On the Porsche Club forum, a member has just posted: "Any EU track events are charged at £224.00 per day and are subject to individual referral to the underwriters. The charge still applies if the EU event is PCGB however this cover has been withdrawn by the underwriters as of this year so this will only apply up to the renewal date of your policy in March. After the March renewal date we will not be able to arrange any cover for EU track events"
Best to get written confirmation of cover!

Interesting, I was hoping this would be the case as personally my present policy would run to mid December. But I was told it applies to my policy even though it was taken out last year."Any EU track events are charged at £224.00 per day and are subject to individual referral to the underwriters. When challenged about why I wasn’t informed in writing of the change the answer was all track cover is supplied at the discretion of the underwriter and you need to inform us at least 48hrs to any event.
Not a happy customer at the moment

That's what Manning said and I'm not aware that it has ever happened ?Raised this subject and told all European cover has been withdrawn regardless of when the policy was taken out. Just found out about this as I am CL covered. Its certainly narrowing down the pool of underwriters able to offer track cover abroad. I wonder with the increasing cost of these cars its getting to the point where they are uninsurable & you take your chances or dont bother tracking at all. I`m halfway through my policy so have a bit of time to see what shakes out but I wont hold my breath for another underwriter to step in and then I will have to make some hard decisions.
The risk profile has clearly got to high that it outweighs any profit to be made.

I believe earlier in the thread it says that the removal of overseas trackday insurance has already been actioned, including on existing policies.
It maybe worth checking ??
Part of the reason must be the substantially increased repair costs ... just compare the cost of metal panels by comparison to the hemp / carbon panel cost. And metal panels can be beaten and filled ...

You would hope then that removal would be discretional rather than blanket, based on actual make and model.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
