I'm going for Del Amitri.

IMHO they should have been the second-biggest band in history. (After the Beatles, obviously)

I’m with you on this, for me Justin Currie is one of the great song writers.

Bumped into him early last year picking up our takeaways and had a chat (we grew up very close to each other) and was surprised to hear later in the year that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Marillion, album after album they keep delivering great music, great lyrics and great live performances.

Always been an album band like Pink Floyd, but I rarely turn it off.

Def Leppard.

Easy to mock but go back & listen to them and they hold up incredibly well.

High & Dry is my favourite album by far.

Watch the "All One Tonight" Live concert at the Royal Albert hall on Blu-Ray it's utterly stunning, Musicianship off the scale....

I saw it live at the Albert Hall, great night out!

Feeder.

Did some great tracks. One of which was used on the soundtrack to the Gran Turismo game.

I'd say Doves are massively underrated although "of all time" is maybe a stretch. They have a great back catalog and are still going today. Much better than a lot of similar but more popular bands of the late 90's / 2000's.

I'd also mention The Boxer Rebellion. Most people I mention them to haven't heard of them but love them when I play a few tracks. Been going for years and have evolved over time with multiple albums. Great song writing, tunes and Nathan has a unique voice. Still touring too.

Japan.

What a depth of creativity in Karn, Sylvian, Barbieri and Jansen.

Totally agree with Japan. All five albums demonstrate their huge talent and distinctive sound but the final album 'Tin Drum' is utterly unique, with complex, creative instrumentation. It sounds amazing to this day. Mick Karn is one the all-time great bass players in my view.

Firehose, a late eighties/early nineties band consisting of former members of Minutemen, are another highly underrated band. They also had a superb bass player in Mike Watt.

I was going to get tickets to see them in Exeter as it's close to my birthday, but hearing their latest album I won't bother, it's absolutely dreadful. So much so I switched it off half way through. I've got most of their stuff and seen them live a number of times but their more recent stuff really is dirge.

Not sure how the most underrated band of all time can be quantified.

However, I would suggest that Supergrass are massively underrated, personally I think they are above both Blur and Oasis in terms of song writing and consistency over several albums (not one or two cough Oasis cough), but they have flown under the radar on the most part.

I personally put Shed Seven on that pedestal rather than Supergrass, but given their recent successes I struggle to call them underrated, even if they do pass by unnoticed by the cloth-eared masses.

underated? nope just dull as dish water!

I would agree that Feeder were a great band without as much credit as they deserve.

I'd also nominate Bush who were a great rock band that didnt get hardly any credit in the uk.
