I have been to have a look at this - low mileage , black interior - has an ‘S’ badge on the back but it is a standard c63 which is what I want .

It seems a little pricey but has air scarf and the aforementioned low mileage.
It looks nice in black - I’m quite tempted . . ..
I just love these engines . …
Talk me out of it … … . .
( sorry about all the dots . …)

Don't know it personally but a few things to point out from looking at the ad:

- Aftermarket facelift grill fitted
- all the chrome trim has been blacked out. Even the factory night package leaves a fair bit of chrome/aluminium
- Wheels look to have had a slight refurb or repaint, they should have a silver band around the rim
- Aftermarket carbon on the interior
- Carbon wrap on the center console, the factory (real) carbon dash has a slight aluminium lip around the outside rather than wrapping down the sides
- Similar on the interior door handles
- Aftermarket AMG badge on the dash
- Shift paddle extenders fitted

Other than those, its a top spec, pre facelift C63 with low miles. A truly great car!

Wow. You have eagle eyes and know your stuff - thank you so much.
Are these bad things ? I like the blacked out look - I couldn’t find any fault with the interior - has it been well done ?

No worries, I'm just an Nerd with a lot of experience around AMG Mercs! hehe

None of those things are bad if you like the look, I just wanted to point them out. Difficult to say if its been done well without looking at the car in person. I've seen those mods done very well by really detail focused car enthusiasts and very badly by those with somewhat dodgy income sources...

Face lift came later in 2018. Not major differences, mostly lights, bumpers, softwear and tech updates (carplay included). Carplay is a little hit and miss on prefacelifts but are slightly louder and a fair bit cheaper (~£10k). Are you wanting it as a daily or as a bit of a toy?

Now that one looks EPIC!! (Good photos help tho) Personally, that's where my money would be, they cope with miles well (see https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... I've seen one on 120k miles).

Alloys (those are the standard fit ones) have been refurbed like the other one but that's nothing unusual. Brand tyres though and a dealership I've seen sell other similar tasty things. Id even say its a good price.

It even has the drivers assistance package! VERY VERY rare indeed!!! Full lane centring, distance cruise control etc.

Any other questions you have I'm happy to answer!

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.
It’s kind of a treat to myself as I love v8 cars - I went sober 15 months ago and feel like a treat! We have a figaro which I love but I don’t feel confident going away for weekends in it on the motorway and with bags !
So this would be my weekend and summer car - I just love the sound .
I kind of think if the car has been fiddled with and had an S badge on it - it could have been ragged to death in its short life ?
The servicing was done at a merc independent whereas for a car of this value I think I’d want to take it to merc themselves ? I do love the higher mileage one …

Just a genuine query, why do you think it is not an S model?

If you like the sound don’t go anywhere near the facelift cars - they sound crap in comparison due to EU emissions regs and filters that were added to the down pipes as a result.

Also make sure you check the service history, it is imperative that the diff oil and gearbox oil changes have been done on time.

Hi - it doesn’t have the track focused stuff that the S model has and in the log book it was down as a simple c63 ( would it have an S in the logbook ? I’m not sure )

Definitely not an S, a lookup proves it.

First off, congratulations you deserve something to celebrate! Secondly, you cant get a much better car for what you are after than a C63. The cabrio does have a little smaller boot but it is deep. If you keep the roof up then you get a fair bit more space.

I'm in a similar boat right now, I love my Golf GTI for daily use, I love the TVR as a toy but I fancy something to eat miles with effortless rumble.

Unusual for a car like that to have gone to an independent so early in its life. I'm not one to mod cars so generally I steer clear of anything that has been fiddled with. Thats personal preference though. Sadly a lot of these have been used and abused, even more so the previous generation 6.2l ones.

It is hard to tell unless you have seen a fair few to compare the two. Logbook is the definitive way, and it would show on Autotrader as an S if it was one. Most S have the performance bucket sets, most non S dont. (Thats not a perfect way to tell though, the seats were optional)

Facelifts still sound fabulous compared to what is currently being made but the pre-facelift is the way to go for V8 goodness! No matter how good you think they sound, they keep getting better. Especially once the gearbox has warmed up fully and you get quicker shifts!

Check the exhaust valves work properly though. On cold start they will be open (all of the sound!) then shut once the idle drops down after a min or two. They then should open again in sport + mode or on the exhaust button next to the screen control wheel.

I’d be worried about the first one having a blocker on it at some point, they have done a lot of mods.

I too would go with the second one if it checks out.

I had a pre-FL C63S and it sounded incredible, my current E63S has GPF's and even with no mufflers, it still sounds way too quiet and has to be massively provoked to get a similar sound from it.

The pre-FL noise is the main thing I miss about my C63.......

E63 are very different to c63 though. Even early E63 are a lot quieter than facelift C63, they dont produce as many pops on overrun or cracks on shifts either. The E was seen as a more of a fast luxury cruiser than the C so everything was tuned for fast cruising. The S63 is even more muted and you really have to force it into making pops.

Each one gets quieter and more civilised as you go down:
C63 = muscle car
AMG GT = Muscle GT
E63 = super saloon
S63 = Sports GT
S65 = Luxury GT (I'll admit, I've never driven an S65 though)

Does your E63 have the sports exhaust option? That does make a little difference but its still quieter (longer exhaust for a start)

The GPFs do make a difference but not as much on the C63. The facelift C class came out just before the new regs came into force so although it does have less noise, its not quite as muted as a facelift E, or even facelift AMG GT.

The most disappointing AMG for sound is the facelift E53. That sounds just like an E200 on startup, even when using the emotional start function.

I thought about this too... Its hard to fool them but I have seen a C43 that looked completely untouched come up with an "true mileage unknown" warning when plugged into a diagnostic machine...

Not saying that has happened with that particular car, but when viewed as a whole it doesn't scream garage queen.

Why do car dealers have an email address on their website if they never respond ?
