We like pretty much anything but seafood.

We like quirky atmosphere but with excellent food and service.

Any suggestions for venues in and near to Southwark area in London. Lunch or dinner, any price range.

Edited to add anything from street food, pop ups to fine dining.

TIA

A good position to be in !

Borough is my area, so if that's in your plan, here's some ones to check out.

https://www.camillerestaurant.co.uk - French inspired. not been but locals recommended it.
https://www.agora.london/agora-menu - same as above. On my list. Greek, good value.
https://thehawksmoor.com/locations/borough/ - I'm regular. But the interior is chilled.
https://www.cafefrancois.london - Been, and strong recommendation.

Giuseppies on Borough High St can be fun,its underground just opposite Borough Market. You might get an opera singer circulating the place.

Price is lower middling and food is decent enough Italian but not fancy.

Lobos near borough market has always been good for me. Parillan at the other side of the market was also recommended to me to try if you wanted a more up market iberian food experience.

I'll second that. Really good service (attentive but not pushy in the slightest) and it has something of the quirk you mentioned. JP was standing at the pass discussing menus with the chefs when I was in there earlier this year.

Only thing I would mention is that portions aren't huge - but definitely adequate.

I was looking for Ann and Lac, but they have closed down now. This has taken its place and the bahn mi sounds promising. I have never eaten there though...maybe someone here can comment.

Another vote for Pizarro. Parillan is very good in Borough, as is Barrafina.

There’s loads of places to choose from, but my last trip to Borough Market was to El Pastor, which was very good.
