Afternoon All,

Just a quick one, my service is due on my Vantage in Feb but my MOT is in June (I bought the car in June last year and the dealer put a fresh MOT and checked the car over - Aston specialist )

Was thinking of pushing my service back until mid May to coincide with the MOT rather than 2 trips to the garage.

On a normal everyday car an extra 4 months would not bother me but I'm wary if I ever come to move on might be an issue in the service records.

Should I not worry in this instance?

The car would have done circa 8k this year in miles come May time (Will be its 11th year Service)

I'm not an AM person at all.

But, for me I'd 100% keep to the schedules if the only issue is making two trips. (Assuming you don't live in mongolia hehe)

But, that's only because I'm a bit particular about these things. The next advice you'll get will be the opposite. (That's PH)

If you've any warranty at all, then keeping to the schedule is a must.

Both of my previous V8 and V12 Vantage's were serviced by Indies and during the 9 years ownership of the V12 it was serviced on average every 18 months as my mileage was 3-4K per annum and my thought process was its got Mobil's finest Synthetic oil in it so why service every 12 months! When I eventually moved it on via a main dealer with 83K mile on it this was not an issue. In fact it was actually bought by the Sales Chap at the dealer

My N430 will also be serviced every 18 months too!

As said, unless under warranty I wouldn’t worry about it. Someone pedantic enough to pull you about it at sale time, you’re probably better off without anyway lol

I think a lot of us stretched the service interval during covid to 18 months while our cars were sidelined.
On a 11 year old car, which has been regularly serviced, pushing the service to align with the MOT would not be an issue for me...

I had a similar problem to you. I used the 4-week window on the car servicing to progressively move the service date to match the MOT date. Took me a few years.

I would say this ^^^ , or synch up both in June. So long as it’s within the expected year, I doubt many would notice, if you were to move it on. Unless you do a shed load of miles in that 3 months maybe. In which case, maybe go for getting the MOT done early.

Don't worry about the different timing.

Go to your AM main dealer for MoT.
They give you coffee and cakes, you can look around the showroom and most annoyingly, they can only charge you the standard price. No Aston tax permitted.
An Indie of your choice might then do the servicing.

Alternatively, bring the MoT forward, to be done with your next service.

hehe I'm sure they'll think of something. You might come away with an Aston Martin teddy bear for only £99....

Thanks all for the replys.

Looking at the replys just waiting 3 month extra for the service should be ok. Wont be doing a huge amount of miles.

They are over an hour away but they were amazing when I bought the car and feel they would help move the car on in the future. So happy to go back to them.

If they where closer then I expect I would get it done in Feb.

Depends on the age and mileage of the car.

Less than 3 years old then do by the book religiously.

Over 5 years old and not doing many miles in a year then do it at your convenience or even every 2 years once aligned with the MOT.

I find the years come by so fast now and it's a real faff especially if you have more than one car so combine MOT and service every two years. And just do an MOT in the in between years unless I experience a problem.

My 2007 V8V has had a service every 12 months since new. It's only done 23k miles.

So that's one every 1278 miles laugh

It's only money I guess!

I'm hoping it will help when I eventually come to sell it.

It will help but you won't get the price of half those services back.

DB7 had a service interval of every six months. Some years I only do 900 miles. Not a chance I will get it serviced every 450 miles. biggrin

You speaking from experience Paul or just labelling all dealers as the same?
