I've bought a Beelink S12 mini PC to try and run Home Assistant.

I've got the HAOS image onto the nvme, and it boots up to the Home Assistant console, but I can't connect from a tablet using "homeassistant.local:8123" - browser just says unreachable.

Looking at the screen as the PC boots, it's failing to load network manager, but carries on to the info screen with the .local:8123 info and an HA prompt.

It doesn't show an ip address though.
Presumably there should be a valid ip shown after the ipv4 "server" name that comes up a few lines above the prompt?

I'm thinking the network interface on the mini PC is faulty?

I'm using a known working ethernet cable and port on my network switch

I guess you have followed the docs, and not an out of date youtube video? Videos can help, but can become outdated quickly and cause issues.

First check the lan cable is connected correctly and the lights by the lan connector are flashing. If not try another cable. (if the setup worked chances are the cable is OK)

Try to connect with IPaddress:8123, may need to check on your router for the IP address if not showing on the screen.

If neither work do a fresh install, as it will be easier than trying to diagnose what went wrong, especially if you are not used to dealing with linux and containers etc.

A few things to remember are HA does not setup wifi by default and it is not recommended.

Show us what is on the screen when its booted up.

I followed a video of setting up with this exact model of mini PC.

I copied the image directly to the nvme using an adaptor, and Balena Etcher. This bit worked fine.

I'm using an ethernet cable and switch port that was running a Roku TV box, so I know that the network connection is working.
I get lights on the mini PC ethernet port.

I've tried enabling and disabling several things in the pc's cos to do with the Realtek chips chipset.

I actually get 2 errors while booting, network manager, and fetching network time.

Where it should display the ip addresses, it's just blank.
It shows the .local messages, and the ha prompt.

There's no "local" ip address showing anywhere, so I can't try a ping.

I found the Realtek ipv4 mac address in the cmos. Ther's nothing with this mac address showing on my router's device list

If it was me, I would start with putting proxmox on the bare metal of the computer. Then install HA as a virtual machine on proxmox.
