Hi all,

I have tried to do some research on this but I can’t find a clear answer. The 991.1 GT3 RS is in my list of possible new car choices but I have a 6 and 9 year old.

Can they ride in a 3RS with carbon bucket seats?

I understand the danger is the airbags but have also read this can be disabled?

Anyone had a GT car and found an answer?

Many thanks

I think your problem is also finding child seats that are compatible with buckets.

I doubt an OPC will fit the switch to turn off the airbag as the owner’s manual is pretty explicit that kids shouldn’t be carried in the front seat.

My kids were 10 and 8 when I got my GT3, I did look in to it but decided against it.

Most boosters fit the carbon buckets if that's any use? I never found a 'proper' car seat that fitted well. Roma 1-2-3 was closest.

Hi,

The Joie Elevate is an inexpensive, lightweight and slimline child seat. It attaches via the seatbelt and just squeezes in my lightweight Carerra GT seats, so it will definitely fit the later carbon seats, which are wider.

If the seat is forward facing, the passenger airbag should remain on.

Hope that helps.

Thanks all. I ended up stumbling on this thread. Which gives details about a Porsche update on the subject.

It basically says, child seats in sports seats are ok but buckets seats are not recommended. But then goes on to give guidance on how to install a child seat with buckets using a top tether. Not particularly clear, but I’d assume it’s because buckets are untested?

I have a 991 with normal seats and you'd only get children born in the last hour in the back.

Surely the answer is to fit a used standard seat for passengers whilst your kids are young? Loads on ebay.
