So, as part of the rear subframe removal I need to remove the bumper.

I just wanted to double check that I dont need to remove the number plate as there are possible some bolts behind it and possible some bolts under carpet in the boot?

I ask as the number plate is currently stuck down with I assume double sided tape and will need some heat and fishing wire to remove and not damage the carbon, hope there is no 'mansory' glue used....

Just managed to find a video and think I have missed the bolts behind the boot carpet where the lights were fixed...will try finding these tomorrow and hopefully should be a bit closer to it coming off.

Wheels, wheel arch liners, exhaust already removed.

I have removed the rear lights and the x2 screws per side.

I have removed the x2 torx bolts at the bottom of the bumper.

I have removed the x2 screws on the inside of the bumper

I have removed the x2 torx screws in the boot under the latch.

The bumper is able to be kind of pulled up and down, but still seems stuck on something and don't want to force it. Not sure if I am being over cautious but cant afford to crack the bumper.

When I try lifting it up and down it seems to foul with the boot air vents, see it circled in blue.

Any advice appreciated.

This PH thread from 2013 suggests the number plate has to come off

Be aware that when the bumper cover comes away it has no strength and can fold, damaging the paint. Easier with a helper.

There are a few excellent previous threads covering subframe refurbishment that I found invaluable when doing mine a few years back.

Just in case anyone does the same as me, but the 2 screws holding the bumper on are behind the cover on the lh side inside the boot and behind the tyre weld/air compressor kit.

Probably a bit too late but I removed my rear plate in the hope of fitting a shorter one which turned out to be a none starter but I can't see any bolts behind it.... wink

I’m about to try this too as I have a 6 digit private plate, but I also have an early roadster with the sports kit, I couldn’t see the large side cut-out on right side when I’ve lifted the current plate, I’m hoping for best and will report back if mine is diff.

Once I had removed those 2 screws, bumper came off easily.

There was no need on my bumper to remove the number plate.
