Newer shape but not new, what are the issues ?

I have a 10 year (owned from new) X3 35d which has no issues but I know others might not be so fastidious in their care.

Plus, what normally goes wrong ?

Potential £20-35k target car.

Unless it has the BMW Insured Warranty or is being sold as an Approved Used Car by BMW, just walk away... Plenty of us on here have documented our sagas with the N63/S63... It doesn't make for a pretty reading... Rod bearing shells, high pressure fuel pumps, direct injectors, transfer cases, turbos, vacuum lines, coolant hoses... We are keeping ours forever, simply because it's all new underneath - engine, transfer box, front suspension, rear airbags + compressor and a few other things replaced by BMW Warranty...

+1000!!!

These things are so complex and the engine parts very expensive that the approved BMW comprehensive warranty is an absolute must! However they are a fantastic vehicle to drive, it will be very difficult to replace ours when it gets too old to be warranted..
