I’ve been contemplating buying myself a new socket set for a while and have been back and forth checking out deals on the Halfords Advanced sets (my old set was one and it’s great quality, I’ve just misplaced lots of it!)

At the moment, the 175 piece set is down from (I think) £255 to £180 which is decent, but if you join the (free) ‘motoring club’ on the website there’s a further 15% discount taking it to £153. Then you get a £5 voucher for joining the (again, it’s free!) ‘motoring club’ which brings the whole kit to £148!

I’ve ordered one and just wanted to share in case anyone else wanted a pretty decent tool set for a good price!

Very good price, had my 120 piece set probably 15 years and other than the case it’s all held up brilliantly

I have the same set - also bought at a low price - you won't be disappointed.

That’s a great set, there’s everything you could realistically need in there for general use. If I didn’t have it all already from individual sets I’d be very tempted.

I've had this set for 4/5 years—almost unbreakable stuff. The only thing broken has been a 21mm socket and a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter, both broken removing caliper carrier bolts or slider bolts. Well worth the money and they replace the stuff. I only buy advanced stuff nowadays if the money is similar to other brands - I've just ordered the full set of rollcab tool chests nearly 900 quid.

The case must be the weak point. Think I've had mine a similar period - maybe even longer - but the case only clips closed on one side now, which means stuff doesn't really stay in place.
I've actually toyed with buying a new set purely so I get a case that closes properly!

It was about that price 25 years ago.

I'm still on my original set.
