What happened to the "King of the hill"? That expression used to be used a lot in the 1990s but I've not heard it for years. Did it disappear when the Viper arrived? It hasn't been mentioned yet in connection with the new Z06 so far as I know. Guess the Z06/SRT-10 comparos will be inevitable at c.$85,000.

Bearing in mind the stock C6 gives the SRT10 a run for its money, methinks the Z06 is going to be comfortably better. Rememeber the SRT-10, by comparison is, a much cruder product, if road tests are to be believed, it drives that way too.

I will probably get slated for this by the "old" Vipers are definitely faster in a straight line than the C5 Z06 vettes (in standard form ) however the Viper is a much more crude chassis compared with the C5 Z06. The Viper ride quality is terrible compared with the C5 Z06 (dunno if that is because the ACR has a much stiffer suspension than a standard Viper as not been in one).

The C6 Z06 uses an all aluminium chassis with magnesium engine cradle etc. so provided the tortional rigidity of the aluminium structure is similar or better than the C5 Z06 then the chassis dynamics should be outstanding.
My concerns with the C6 Z06 are as follows:

1. Runflat tyres are gonna make for lots of tyre noise and a very stiff tyre wall is not good for sliding the car. I suspect that the call will grip to a point and then let go big style
2. Leaf springs are never as good as coilovers IMHO.

According to a couple of the reviews I have read about the C6 Z06 the 0-60 time is about 4.2 secs compared with GM's stated 3.7 secs. This has to be down to the runflat tyres.
If I bought a C6 Z06 I would ditch the run flats and fit some Kumhos.
