F10/F11 Run new feed from JBE to Clock Spring
Discussion
Last year I changed the steering wheel on my 2011 F11 535i. This was done to get paddles but as it happened the wheel that I bought also had heating. So after a little research, mainly on US BMW forums, I also bought the Heated steering wheel switch and fitted that. The trouble is, is that on US cars, or certainly many of them, the plug on the clock spring behind the air bag is pre-wired for the hearing element. On my UK car it is not. The heated wheel control is wired in and coded but there is no power feed to the heating element itself. I was just going to leave this but I now quite fancy the challenge of getting this running. I know some folk piggy back onto the airbag 12v feed on the clock spring but I really don't want to get into that. The correct way to do it seems to be to buy a clock spring with the appropriate pre-wiring and then run a feed from the JBE to the clock spring.
I have found a clock spring with the right kit on it. But have two concerns before I pull anything apart. Firstly, what is the best method for taking a new feed from the JBE and getting it to the back of the clock spring itself?
And secondly, what will I need to do if anything to calibrate the new clock spring?
