X5 ISOFIX GROUP 0+ CHILD SEATS
Discussion
Hi all
Just wondered if anyone has any experience in this department really. I have bought and X5 due to expanding family (twins) and I have been looking for a rear facing car seat ideally with an isofix base for easy removal from the car. Can I find a car seat? Can I bu66er.
The score is there seems to be one the Brittax Tots but having spoken to them I am informed that because no crash testing has been done on my model year 2002 they can't recomend it for my car and that my insurance may be invalidated if I go ahead and use it???They have tested it on a 2004 model and it is ok!
Quite annoying really. Anyway my point is that is anyone aware of any seat with detachable base that will fit my car be it isofix or seatbelt attachment that they would recommend.
Thanks in advance

I've had to use conventional rear facing baby seats in my X5's and then switched to forward facing at about 8 months or so. I have used the BMW seats and they are very good.
We use one of these along with the new Britax Isofix seat.
I'm not quite sure how fitting a car seat that hasn't been tested in your car can invalidate your insurance. I doubt most seats have been tested in most cars.
From memory (but I am not a BMW Engineer) the seats and Isofix fixing points look just the same in my '05 X5 as they did in my previous ones!

We used the Graco Autobaby system - miraculous design. You fit a "base" in the car which takes all of 30 seconds using just the three-point seatbelt, and then the babyseat clips into it - very easy, and makes the seat lovely and light to use as a carry-cot so you can take the little one in and out of the car without waking them.
Added advantage is you can buy the bases separately for around £20, and then fit them to parents/wifes/nannys car etc so you know the base is fitted properly, there's nothing they can do wrong to clip it in badly.
On top of that, it clips straight on to the buggy (though not much use for you with twins!)
