I’m inclined to think it was incompetence and arrogance over any intent. Maybe he did just want to end the race under green flag and just didn’t think through the impact of his SC decisions due to the pressure in the heat of the moment. It’s doesn’t change how terrible and unsporting a decision it was. Genuinely as poor as anything to happen in sport.
