Which Rolex would you add to the collection?

So I will hit a significant milestone birthday in 2025. Statistically I probably have less turkeys left in me than I do years alive but lets be positive and I will see a couple more decades at least
My grail watch would be simple stainless steel automatic Patek Philippe Aquanaut but Mallory in Bath crushed that dream the other other month with a blunt ‘you will be waiting years’ for a new watch sunshine and I havent got the 40k+ to buy second hand.
I got into watches about 20 years ago, my first being a 14000M Air King that I still have today, purchased with my Christmas bonus. I don’t wear it much but it was where it all started so for the moment it stays.
I also own an LV Sub (Thanks Dom H) & most recently a Sky Dweller. My collection also includes a couple of Paneri (GMT & a daylight Chrono) and a Tag Monaco & a Superocen 42 for good measure. They all get worn on rotation so none of them are ‘safe queens’ but I favour the Rolex, especially the Sub.
I would like another Rolex but I would consider something different. Budget would be upto £17,000 so this probably excludes the latest model Daytona in any form which I really like. When I purchased the Sky Dweller, the other option was a Daytona, it was new & was similar in price to the SD at about 13k.
I like the date Adjust 41 on the oyster bracelet (don’t really like the jubilee) blue or green face with roman numerals & probably the fluted bezel. I guess this looks a little like the Air King but a bigger face and a date window with a non fluted bezel.
I also like the Daytona. I have the Panerai Chrono but its not a Rolex. There are lots of options for the daytona and a wide price band/age.
Most of the Daytona watches in my price range are 5-10 years old. I have seen a few model 116523 with Yellow Gold/Steel bracelet and grey dial that I like but these are 10-15 years old. This design seems to be a bit less ‘bling’ than some of the other bi-metal yellow gold adorned modles with ligher colour dials. Should I be put off by an older Rolex? They are often less expensive but still significant (like 10k+) for something that is 10+ years old
What would the PH collective do? Has to be my choice at the end of the day and I might end up doing nothing and chucking money in my pension but that is boring and I am privilidged enough to be financially stable and can do this without risk and want to have something nice to enjoy and celebrate my success & milestone birthday.
The GMT II in its different flavours like the 'Batman' & 'Pepsi' look nice but are very similar in style to the Sub. The Yachtmaster II is unusual but if I am honest is a bit too 'bling' for me. Day/Date might be nice but they all seem to come on a president bracelet which I don't like.
The Mrs says I am not powerfully built enough so spending it on decent coke & hookers is not an option. Selling the TVR and adding the watch money to get myself in something more sensible at the weekend that won't send me deaf or break my spine on a long drive is an option but secondhand Bentley Continental GT's could be ruinous! a watch is safer and won't depreciate as much!

If it were my money, I'd buy either a Speedy Pro Moonwatch, or the new First In Space, or both, and go on holiday with any remaining funds.This is a very apt thread. I went one the Rolex website for the first time in about a year. I have always absolutely loved Rolexes but couldn’t find one that I really loved. I think the main issue was choosing a dial I liked. I don’t really like any of the datejust or oyster dials in the current lineup.

Lovely watch, my wifes recently bought one and looks great, althought now 10k over the OP's budget!
I was in picking up a submariner on Christmas Eve and noticed the RG Oyster YM had been increased to almost £25k, think I paid £22,250 last year. Just looked and it's £28,150, that's a wild increase in 2 years. That being said, it was also available to buy which means a big hit the minute you walk out with it. Had my name down for a 40mm DD Everest Green Dial which I'm sure was £28k when I registered an interest and is now north of £40k, won't be rushing in when I get that call from them.Edited by Sy1441 on Tuesday 7th January 22:08
If you want the Daytona, then my advice would be to get it. Whether its an older model (pre ceramic) which is probably available for your budget or you add £2/3k for a used ceramic ... or play the long game with your AD.
RRP prices have gone silly on some models ... Everose/Oysterflex and WG/Oysterflex are now £33.5k ... thats more than a £10k increase in 8 years so who knows where it will end.
It sounds like you enjoy your watches and in your advancing years (no offence!
) so if I were you, I'd not be holding back ... YOLO;)

In January 2016 one Gordon Brown Peso was worth 1,48 Swiss francs, whereas now it would get you only CHF 1,13.Gold has also gone from CHF 1'100 to CHF 2'410 per ounce over the same period.
So drastic price rises for UK buyers in the past 8 years are not that surprising !
