Just had an email round at work, as everyone has worked so hard this everyone can finish at 2pm xmas eve, nice of them,

The girlfriend had an email from the company on Friday, everyone can leave at 4 xmas eve and make up the hours another day in December but must be approved by their manager first..... this isnt a struggling company, they are on course for a great year and have already been confirmed that they are all getting their full 20% bonus

Anyone else?

We were told several weeks ago that we'll finish at midday, company are also have bacon / sausage / veggie rolls delivered mid-morning.
In addition, the company closes for the period between xmas and NY, with 3 days deducted from holiday "allowance" This year in October we were given one of those days back as a thank-you for a great year.

We also all hit our bonus targets and have had numerous other little benefits throughout the Year.

I'll never knock this place for that, they really do know how to treat employees well.

Thats pretty decent, we had an xmas lunch a few weeks ago but that was about it, wfh so most people would be unlikely to work a full day so a 2pm finish is reasonable,

The gf works for a b2b company, she said shes already finding out most people are off, so just seems a bit mean

We had a christmas bash at a posh estate which was quite nice. Everyone got an extra days holiday over Christmas (actually two 1/2 days for christmas eve and new years eve). I also won an extra days holiday in the company advent calendar draw.

Job I just left (yesterday), got a Xmas card congratulating the inclusion team for their fantastic work.

New job starts on Xmas day. No card, no benefits, just part of the job.

We got a letter explaining why the government's upping of employer national insurance contributions meant they would not be giving us the normal, below-inflation pay rise. However, they said business was up 40% on last year, and they thanked us for our hard work.

I used to work for a place like that. Tell you how great they’re doing or done but no pay rise. Used to really p##s us all off.
Where I am now our manager is taking us for a brekkie and then that’s us done unless an emergency job comes in otherwise have a brekkie then home which is good.

Buried in the staff news letter (that most dont read) a few weeks ago was our opening hours, we're cloind at 5pm instead of 6pm Christmas eve and news years eve. Everyone got a Christmas card with 3 weeks remaining of a free months trial membership at David Lloyd (one site only).

No pay rise in next year either. Merry Christmas everyone!

We're at about 80% of target, but 8% better than last year.

We get Christmas eve off for free.

Reply on behalf of Miss F. 2 extra days off this year, but reason was that they were not paying the nationally negotiated pay increase which was already below inflation.

I got my November invoice paid 8 days early and a 9% rate increase for next year. That’ll do.

The usual tosh of snr "management" saying how "amazin'" everyone is and what a fantastic job they are doing despite knowing very few of the staff. No lunch, no bonus, no early finish.

Not that I really want it. The arranged Christmas lunch (not co funded) was called off. Folks would have had to have taken flexi and not been able to claim travel.

All that says quite a lot to me. A few of may have a "breakaway do" in Jan that's nowt to do with work.

We've been given a very small pay rise for next year (2%), got taken out for a nice meal and drinks in the west end and a £1000 Christmas present. But we weren't paid for the 2 days overtime in December. Not sure if I should question it or just let it slide?

Company paid Christmas Party at a local hotel. Wasn't bad; wasn't amazing but a nice gesture.

Company closes completely during Twixtmas (EU Bretherin are already on 2 week shutdown); we get given 3 days leave which must be taken over this period so doesn't "cost" anything to not be at work.

Bonusses aren't until end of tax year so have never hung on Christmas. We get paid in the middle of the month which means January isn't a 5 week month, which is always a bonus in itself.

It seems that:

Small Family Business: You either get nothing, or you get something that feels like the boss genuinely cares about you.
SME: Thanks for all your hard work but that's it
Large Enterprise: Look we know we can do something and it'll seem rubbish but we've got to give it to everyone and we're constrained by all manor of internal process so you should be grateful we've picked a way through it.

One previous company - every employee got a £20 M&S Voucher. The running joke was after 5 years you had enough for a suit for your next job interview.
