James Gunn's Superman
Discussion
I'll be honest, I wasn't that excited for this. Not that I wasn't looking forward to it, I just wasn't sure what it would be.
I have to say, having seen the motion poster I was a little excited with that score choice and the colour. Now, having seen the teaser trailer (the actual one not the teaser of the teaser, wtf is that about btw), this has shot right to the top of my list.
Lex looks awesome, Superman looks fantastic, the score AGAIN is killing it with another remix of the original theme and the rest of the film looks like a perfect combination of the more grown up modern films we've had with Cavill and Routh and the classic Reeves stuff.
Plus, Krypto. Gunn has emotionally broken me with CG animals once already and I'm sure he's about to do it again.
The ONE thing that I'm not sure about is the new version of Clarke's hair
But I'm sure it'll grow on me.
Early days but it really does seem like they've captured the important parts of what makes the character.

come on - another "homage" type movie - i'm really underwhelmed by it, looks like it got a lot of typical tropes in here, and looks like it will follow the standard pattern that , imho, is what is leading to "superhero" fatigue in the movie going public......
superman has been done, and then done some more, and then done even more, and now.........done again - leave it alone, we all know Reeve owned it - Cavill almost come close ...
the only thing that would ever get me excited about Superman is he's stood in Yemen in 2024 wondering who the hell is the "bad guy" and Trump tying to get hold of his DNA to inject into himself....

Theme reminiscent of the ‘hawkmen’ theme from 80’s Flash Gordon. Not sure I like seeing beaten up Superman. That was the worst part of Superman Returns for me.
If Gunn can capture both the majesty and the humanity of the character, he will succeed and so will the film. I like the idea of having other well known characters already established and I also like Krypto.
Given how popular characters like Rocket and Grogu have been, including Krypto is very shrewd. And he’s a dog. All the best people like dogs. Expect to see plush Kryptos everywhere this time next year.

Exactly! I'm utterly sick of it. I hope it flops so hard the studios NEVER do a 5ht 6th or fsuperman has been done, and then done some more, and then done even more, and now.........done again - leave it alone, we all know Reeve owned it - Cavill almost come close ...

The studios should genuinely be ashamed of themselves for being so lazy and failing to develop any number of other scripts they get that don't rely on 95% CGI!
Cinema is nearly dead!
