E30 Hartge H27
Discussion
So, bit of a story to this one.
Always been an E30 lover, first one was a 316i lux at the age of 18, back in 98. Moved on a few years later to a red 325i Sport which was absolutely immaculate and an absolute joy to drive. At the same time, I would occasionally see this immaculate 325i Sport in black locally which had Hartge badges on it, but never really knew much about it, but secretly would look at it in awe.
Fast forward a few years, and I was working at a car recovery firm and a local body shop owner spotted my 325i touring parked in the car park which was wearing 16" Hartge classic wheels, and wanted to know more about it. He tells me about this old BMW he had parked in his bodyshop with the same wheels that he was looking to part with.
Turns out that it was this mysterious Hartge badged 325i I used to spot back in 2004. Deal was done and it came home with me.
This is where I might be hated upon, but some life changes meant the car ended up being parked in my garage for 17 years, but I'm now in a position where I can commit the time and money to get this rare car back to where it should be.
I'll use this post as a diary to log progress.
As it was in the bodyshop

As it stands

The BMW E30, such a crisp and clean design. I don’t know that much about old BMW’s, is it a 325i or a H27? Either way, both very nice, but different cars.
Good luck with the restoration, CAR SOS S12 E03 BMW E30, Did an Alpina a fair bit of work involved, might be worth a watch
I should have added, the car was purchased new as a 325i sport and then the H27 conversion completed when new. So the original engine was converted to 2.7Good luck with the restoration, CAR SOS S12 E03 BMW E30, Did an Alpina a fair bit of work involved, might be worth a watch

It's the red car in the scanned articles on this thread. Owner upgraded from an H27.

Remember that car from back in the day. There was a white one that a guy on the e30zone had I seem to remember, wonder what happened to that one. Just been chatting with the owner of an H36:

I look forward to seeing its progress.
I'm not sure on the merits versus Alpinas but I've always thought Hartges looked more sporting, in good and bad ways.
A very tidy white H28 turned up to a local show last year and had a decent chat with the owner, I'd hoped to see it again this season but nothing. Maybe next year.
