Harry just posted an update on his 650s ...
Discussion
If you go out late when the roads are quiet, in winter it'll be dark unlike in summer. Maybe less of an issue depending on how remote an area you live.
It's also tricky to find a day when the roads are consistently dry and you can get enough warmth into the tyres to really lean on the car.
Not McLaren-specific problems exactly.
But yeah if you just want to go somewhere it's absolutely fine, especially on MPS4 rubber.
I had my service (675LT) at V a few days after Harry. Been using V a couple of years now they are fantastic and much more knowledgeable than the main dealers (IMO) and better value. I also use my car through winter, 16k miles in 5 years with no adverse impacts.
If you are able to use V I 100% recommend them.
I think Harry was spot on with his comments about the P11 cars being all good and the post 2020 cars getting some of that goodness back. When production was ramped up for the initial sports series and 720s, quality did appear to take a tumble. Its great to see McLaren back to where they were in the P11 days.

I accepted a trade bid on my 650 last week, only covered 400 miles last year plus a break in at my car garage (where it is usually stored) has led me to question if I can afford it.
Why would a break in affect whether you can afford it - surely it's insured?I dread to think what a trade bid would be. Is it not worth trying SOR with a respected dealer?
Great video, my VO 570 hiding behind them in the "picture shot" next to my friends VO 675.
I use my as much as I can, and still am, so many dry days. With PS4S is fine, and you don't need to drive it at 10/10ths everywhere haha. Its just nice to drive.
Harry's videos do make me want to change to a spider and 650 to experience the super series suspension.

Always like his videos and good to see him so enthusiastic about the brand. Interestingly though is comments on gear change with no mention of the 'pre-cog' first click on paddles. Many other less worthwhile videos don't mention it either.
Pre-cog removed on the 650 and replaced with firmware that allows faster changes in either direction regardless of what is anticipated.

Actually I enjoy greasy conditions on PS4S’s to manage lower speed drifts on quiet roundabouts on my usual Sunday morning drive. I use my as much as I can, and still am, so many dry days. With PS4S is fine, and you don't need to drive it at 10/10ths everywhere haha. Its just nice to drive.

Only advice is to be carful if accelerating in 3rd or higher from low revs - the torque hit at 4-5k revs unsettles the rear end. Better to stay in lower gears for the most linear response.

I would have thought Thorney would be more convenient than V Engineering for Harry.
I believe they both have a great reputation but is V Engineering meant to be the best?
Yes, but it's the difference between ~45 and ~55 minutes so probably not decisive.I believe they both have a great reputation but is V Engineering meant to be the best?
What drew me to V specifically was that Paul and Steve each worked for ten years at McLaren c.2010-2020, so where they deviate from "factory" procedures they're doing so with full knowledge. Also, my car tends to be one of the cheaper cars in their workshop; alongside 675LTs, P1s & Sennas I've also seen a Daytona and Miura in there. So all that together gives me confidence that I'm making a reasonable decision to trust them.
