Stuff you love, but other people hate

No, not Marmite.

I love Dutch salted liqorice or any of the Scandinavian stuff too, Salmiak etc, the saltier the better (my poor heart, I know) but 99.9% of the people that ask for a tester tend to immediately yak it out and pull a face at me that asks what life decisions they have made to this point, to deserve what just happened. It's great It's likely as a result of my heritage, but I adore the stuff!

What it does mean though, is that I get it all to myself. Excellent.

Anyone else got any similar foods that everyone you know loathe but you love?

Laver

It's seaweed boiled until it forms a sort of glutinous dark green/almost black sludge. Delicious fried with bacon and eggs.

Thank you for the link DG, it used to be widely available in Indian restaurants as a starter.

I wouldn’t really want to prepare it at home as authentic Bombay Duck, pongs a fair bit.

Called Chitterlings in the UK (never seen them as a sausage though) had them once a week when I was a kid. My Dad loved them so I'd always try some. Served cold with loads of vinegar and white pepper for supper.
