Hi, in June we're driving from Europort in Rotterdam to Fussen near the Austrian border.

We'd like to stop in Stuttgart for 2 nights (?) so we can do the Porsche and Merc museums on the way there, and then maybe Cologne on the way back.

Looking for do's and don'ts or nice places to stop or take a detour to, and if there's any suggestions for stuff to do in Fussen or close by. Never been to Germany before.

Ill be in a 520D estate and we're taking bikes. Will be there for about 6 nights once we reach Fussen. Mainly going so my girlfriend can visit the Neuschwanstein castle. Road cycling route suggestions welcomed too biggrin

Hello, I live 3 miles from the Porsche Museum and 8 miles from the Mercedes Museum. As long as you get there when they open (I'd do Porsche first) you can easily do both museums in one day and then head off towards Füssen. Doing that means only one night in Stuttgart, nothing wrong with the place but it isn't the most exciting city in Germany.

If you get close to Dusseldorf or Berlin, I would highly recommend the Classic Remise car centres. Great for a little stroll around. Some weird and wonderful cars.

I wouldn't bother with Stuttgart. IMHO German version of Birmingham.
Plenty of industry, not many tourist sights.

Munich has the feel of a capital city. Nurnburg & Wurzburg
are smaller but very good too.
