Porsche Cayenne infotainment system - very loud noise

My 2015 model e-hybrid appears to have a fault on the main head unit and creating a very loud static interference noise accompanied by a slight burning smell. Bizarre. It then appears to be ok / intermittently ok.

How easy are these things to investigate?
Anyone experienced something similar?
