Hi everyone!
Does anyone know what replacement front brake disc size and code is for the mk1 Tuscan?
ie Brembo, EBC etc? Where they originally Vauxhall/Ford?
If that makes any sense?…Thanks

S models had the bigger front brakes. Non S cars may have had the bigger brakes fitted at the factory or as an upgrade. You need to measure.

Something to consider is the 330mm is the upgrade, thinking 322 is standard from memory.

Here's a bit of a related thread hijack, what about pads? Do you buy them on the coefficient percentage?

I think the discs are TVR specific unlike the models up to the Grief.

Racetech, Powers are other TVR parts suppliers. I've never checked for TVR but EBC also do discs.

Personally, I would like a set of grooved discs all round for more reliability on trackdays. In both the big and small sizes so I can run 16 and 18 inch wheels.

When I had a Mk1 Tuscan I had a good relationship with a local motor factor. I would take parts in and go through his stock, often out the back of his shop on my own. I appreciate this is a bit of a teaser as I don't recall the details, but front discs were a Jeep Cheroke size from about 2005.

I matched almost everything I ever bought in brakes and most suspension from Ford, Vauxhall and Jeep

I have remembered. Discs front and back were Ford Sierra 4 wheel drive variant. Front calipers were Jeep, plus the hub assembly, Jeep too.

As far as I'm aware there is no off the shelf equivalent for the Tuscan front discs, they are all TVR specific. There is just one type of rear disc and they're cheap and easy to find on eBay.

There are 3 sizes of front discs, correct me if I'm wrong:

-Early Tuscans with the AP Racing/TVR logo’d CP5200 6 bolt calipers have a drilled 291mm disc (TVRJ700 PR). This can be upgraded with the 322mm disc from the late Cerbera 4.5 and Tuscan S (TVR J0759 PR), you will need a pair of spacers from Motaclan etc to fit these.

-Later Tuscans from 2001, Tamora and T350 had 304mm front discs (TVR J0757 PR)

Reyland Motorsport do some nice grooved 330mm 2 piece discs

Hope this helps

Cliffords you must have got confused somewhere along the line because cossies are 4 stud, Tuscans are 5. The rear Calipers are from a cossie though and maybe the CP5200 calipers fit

The early 291mm discs were undrilled, with the swap to 304mm drilled ones happening in Sep 2000. There are 4 and 6 bolt CP5200 calipers fitted to early cars and the 4 bolt ones will only take a max 304mm disc. Mine had 6 bolt ones with standard solid 291mm discs originally.

There are 2 sizes of rear discs, with the larger ones fitted to RR/S cars along with the 322 fronts.

The Reyland alloy bell and 330 disc combination is a fair bit lighter than the one piece 322 drilled discs.

The Jeep discs are the same diameter and stud pattern but the top hat shape and offset is different.

Thanks BB, everydays a school day, forgot about the Tuscan S rear AP option with bigger discs. Mine is an early Mk1 with the 6 bolt calipers, it has 291mm drilled discs so probably not the original ones.

On a different note, if you still have the old six bolt AP callipers then you have the original uprights. They should have been replaced under a recall. I never had it done (not informed, or previous owner did not bother) and it cost me a replacement set of uprights and new callipers with TVR in yellow.

It doesn't as they retro fitted updated uprights with an alloy adapter to take the AP5200 calipers to early cars as part of the recall. Mine had them done and has the recall sticker to prove it! You didn't need to swap the calipers as the adapters are still available.
