My E60 550i manual gearbox has developed a slight vibration coming through the gear change stick. Evident at any speed and gear engaged. Not a massive vibration but certainly noticed.
Any suggestions please as to what may be causing this. Thanks.

My son was doing the driving last night and mentioned this vibration to me which when I touched the gear stick made it evident to me. It does seem to be at all times but ai will need to have a drive to be certain of that.
Engine mounts could be a good call, thanks.

Gearbox mounts or engine mounts

Probably a prime time to change them all

Part numbers on www.realoem.com - put the last 7 digits of your VIN into the box at the top of the page and it'll bring your car up

I'm doing the same with my E81 130i - replacing them all as with its age and mileage, they're ripe for change!

Check the giubo joint while checking mounts. It may not be that, but worth including it while the car is in the air.

Thank you for the contributions, the brake lines are being replaced next week and it sounds like the engine and gearbox mounts some point in near future. Not sure what the giubo joint is tbh! Thanks again

Just looked up the giubo joint info smile

More likely to be either prop shaft joint or rear wheel balance than engine mount.

I will go for the cheapest option then, rear wheel balance and work through from there. Thank you.

Great, now we must remind all on its spelling and pronunciation. Giubo is:
Szoo -bo, not gwee-bo.

Don’t forget it could be the gear knob itself.
