Best value/quality weights for home?
Discussion
Those rubber hex dumbbells all seem to come from the same factory. My Mirafit ones seem all but identical to my Rogue ones, and are about half the price. There are a lot of sellers of this style on Amazon too.
I have three Rogue barbells (mine, hers and the boy's), which aren't cheap, but we have Rogue stuff at work and they've been in almost daily use for the last decade or so, and feel like they'll easily last another decade. For home use I imagine they will outlast me with only a bit of cleaning and oiling. Their bumper plates are great too, and wear really well, even for outdoor use. I'm sure there is more expensive stuff out there, but for the average home gym I think it is probably overkill. Some of the Rogue stuff is more cheaply made and just stickered up, but for the key equipment, i.e. rack, bar & plates, it is really solid and good quality kit.

My Texas Power Bar is Rogue and it's superbly made... I've dropped it with 550kg (accidentally) and it didn't leave a mark... Did that with a cheap bar and it was like a banana I have three Rogue barbells (mine, hers and the boy's), which aren't cheap, but we have Rogue stuff at work and they've been in almost daily use for the last decade or so, and feel like they'll easily last another decade. The Hex dumbbells I agree; I've had a few off Amazon and the rest from Mirafit; can't tell the difference. But, they're not far off the Mirafit prices (Amazon ones) and I'd rather deal with Mirafit if there are any issues
Their clearance sales come up with some good stuff at time; the lat pull down extension I got for £70 less than new; the dip bars were via their eBay store for 50% off etc

I dislike hex dumbbells. I don't pick dumbbells up until I have to and hex 'bells you can't foot-roll across the floor.

Gerr'em picked up lad

They do roll; just need a good shove and then they go in the direction you don't want them to

After a dumbbell/barbell set. Some look very poor quality though. Anyone got any tried and tested recommendations?...
I have a pair of 40kg DBs, made by BodyMax. Quality seems fine to me, albeit, I only bought them for training at home during the lockdowns when the gyms were shut. They're hex bells, which I don't ordinarily like, but by virtue of being hex, I could also use them as elevated grips for press up variations.
The downside (and the main reason I don't like hex DB's) is that they're less comfortable to use for goblet squats.
Spent 290 quid on the things in the middle of lockdown, but I was desperate!

I'm not going to get into how much I spent on weight plates in lockdown They're hex bells, which I don't ordinarily like, but by virtue of being hex, I could also use them as elevated grips for press up variations.

However, I did manage to sell them for not much of a loss and spent that on Mirafit plates
