Hi all just ordered a roller door that has simple up and down switch to control the motor.

So is already motorised, I'm looking for a control unit to buy for it either remote control fobs or ideally an unit i can use from smart phone

Any ideas ?

This is my go-to. Reasonably quick to work/react, does bluetooth/direct wifi/internet via wifi.

Interesting will have a good look at that does it need an existing control unit ? My door will have just a key switch for up and down inside

I think most of these devices just give a signal output so I would expect you to need a controller.

When you say yours just has a key switch, that sounds pretty basic, no safety strip etc fitted?

Just get a Fingerbot or Switchbot.

It is a smart device that will manually press the button for you.

By far your easiest method.

You can even do it so the moment you connect to the home wifi, it would open the door.

I have a garage door opener that I can control with an app. If the opener can determine when the door is fully open and fully closed with a single button after setup. You should be able to find something on Amazon that will work

I do like the sound of the meross, I haven't actually taken delivery of the door yet all I know it's a key switch operated as standard from inside

. I'll wait and see what's what with it when it's delivered and if the meross will work or will I need to buy a control unit of some sort for the meross to piggyback off.

Another vote for Meross here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B086MLFRJ3/ref...

I've an up and over as opposed to a roller door, but it doesn't really matter.

This is to supplement a vintage Hormann Ecomatic garage door system which is working fine but it's difficult to get replacement remotes. I now have this plugged in and can open via an app or Alexa without issue.

I installed a Remootio a little while ago and i'm really pleased- its been faultless since install 6 months ago. I particularly like that it tells you if the door is open or closed.

Thank you for reminding me about these. I've got the switchbot curtain robots, very glad I came across them. Tempted by this little guy for the lightswitch in the garage.

Wish I could use this as I like the Meross smart plugs with power metering but my garage door has 3 wires, up, down and a common.
