Parking in Canary Wharf
Discussion
Hi
I need to visit Canary Wharf on Wednesday for a meeting (1400 to 1600) and I’m considering driving in but concerned that once I get there I won’t be able to park.
There does seem to be a few sites offering prebookable spaces but the charge is only £3 which makes me suspicious.
Does anyone have an experience parking in or around South Quay?
Thanks

Canary wharf has thousands of parking spaces, but £3 sounds like the "for 2 hours" rate. I think it's actually something like £3.80 in the big Canada square car park, or in the smaller but still big cabot square one.I need to visit Canary Wharf on Wednesday for a meeting (1400 to 1600) and I’m considering driving in but concerned that once I get there I won’t be able to park.

Thanks. I could get the central line and then the DLR from Stratford but driving does seem the better option. Mainly as I have to drive to the nearest station and then find parking.
No skin off my nose but you could- use the DLR Stratford->Canary Wharf without a change, or
- use the jubilee line Stratford->Canary Wharf without a change
It really depends on where you're coming from/going to, whether you like sitting or standing on trains, etc.
Plenty of spaces in the Wharf, park under Waitrose and walk to South Quay. It charges by the hour, not cheap but 4 hours would be about 8-10quid. By 2 the carparks start emptying out as people who start mega early are done for the day. Blackwall tunnel can slow getting out a bit (after 4pm), but its not horrific.
I'll also be in South Quay on Wednesday!
I've never been stuck for parking when I used to drive in semi-regularly.
This is the closest big car park I can think of, was an NCP when I last used it.

Otherwise West India Quay or actually within CW itself, I've always managed to find a space and that was when it was much busier.
There is an NCP near Crossharbour iirc.

Believe they have started work on the A13 Barking Flyover now (Aka closed) so traffic may be chaotic in the morning..
Usually have found there to be spaces at the official canary wharf parking; Some of the local hotels have limited spaces - Justpark bays are a good bookable option if you don't mind a little walk

The date has of course passed, but I visit a client right next to the Tower of London once a month and drive. Reason: We travel 2-4 up and have a 20kg piece of equipment in a wheeled Peli case. For this site I use JustPark and park at an apartment block called The Circle near Butlers Wharf. It's a 10 min walk across Tower Bridge. I've never paid more than £12 all day.
You book, get emailed an access code for the gates. At first I was quite apprehensive, but it worked very well.
Since then I've use JustPark for a lot of London jobs and am amazed at the sheer number of spaces open to Joe Public.
