So my Magic Keyboard bought in 2011 has had one too many trips to the floor, now the batteries last a day and it rattles somehow.

The new ones are £149… really feels like a lot, they do a £99 but without Touch ID, so might as well look at what else is out there.

I don’t need a numeric keyboard but must be wireless, is there a good alternative out there?

I’ve been able to get magic keyboards and mice from eBay.

Brand new, either a company buys new Mac’s and they come with a new keyboard and mouse they don’t need, or private buyers selling theirs.

I’ve had new magic mice and magic keyboards with Touch ID for half price.

Logitech MX Keys

or

Logitexh MX Keys Mini

But are quite pricey, though. But very good.

This. I’ve had new magic keyboards at a great price. I’ve also tried a few non-Apple alternatives and they can take several seconds to wake a sleeping Mac

I tried one when I found an old Mac Mini I wanted to bring back into use, not a patch on the Magic keyboard IMO but one of the best 3rd party keyboard available. I feel Apple get away with charging what they do because they genuinely are the best - I also like the Touch ID for convenience.

(Although, why can't we have Face ID using the webcam?)

I know you said you don't *need* the numpad but I have the wired version of this and it's pretty close to the Apple ones (I have one of those too). Amazon have it in the white/silver finish with UK Mac layout for about £40 on black friday deal right now - https://www.cherry.de/en-gb/product/kw-9100-slim-f...

Where are you based? If anywhere near Slough, I have a battery magic keyboard gathering dust in the cupboard. Wireless / non numeric pad. yours if you can pick it up.

Decided to stick with Apple as the cost difference is negligible over the Logitech etc.

Touch ID is pretty handy. I’d get that.
