Error code, EML and poor idle when cold??

The EML came on while I was sat idling for a while when the car was warmed up, I've cleared it and it returned again after idling for a few minutes.. The error code is in the pic, it's a 2011 Yeti 1.8 TSI. It's also really, really rough if you let it idle after starting from cold. Although I'm wondering if this is exaggerated by the failing DMF.

I've found a load of suggestions online but they don't seem to match my car's symptoms.

Any ideas where to start??

The code suggests that the evap cannister purge valve isn't working, but I assume you already know that.

If it only happens in freezing conditions, perhaps it's got condensation which has frozen. Otherwise it could be seized/jammed, have an electrical failure or a blocked purge line. It would be possible to diagnose it with a smoke machine if you plan to DIY it, but unless it's something you expect to fix yourself I suggest you take it to a garage and ask them to diagnose it.

It happens when it's warm - both car and temperature. The rough idle is only when the car is cold, although I've only noticed it while defrosting the car.
