Apologies if this has been answered but how did this car get to be ULEZ compliant?

Are you sure the wheels aren’t slightly damaged rather than needing a rebalance for the vibration? Will you get the balance and issue sorted before end of auction? (I would have thought that’s a quick and easy process to remove a negative point)

Hi Muckyman,

Yes I’m pretty certain it’s just a simple issue of balancing as there’s no problems when turning or any noises or any issues at any other speed except for around 60mph. It’s a slight vibration in the steering wheel. I will try and go tomorrow to get the wheels balanced which should solve the problem. Thank you

Hi PJR01,

The car is ULEZ compliant which means it doesn’t incur any charges whilst driving in the ULEZ Zone. I believe some M5’s are exempt whilst others are not. This must be one of the lucky ones

Hi, thanks for the reply on my question re the wheels.
I have another question for you…..
The advert states ‘All of the instrumentation looks to be in good order, with no faults or issues reported’ - but I notice what looks like missing pixels on the dash where it says ‘RANGE’.
Is everything good as the advert states, or has the missing pixel problem started on the digital display?
Many thanks
Michael

Have you already removed the number plate from the car, if you check the number plate in the ulez checker its not exempt.

@Andrew - I just checked it myself and it’s showing as exempt on the official site (I’m not the seller by the way, just an interested potential buyer)

Hi Muckyman,

Well noted, I have just checked and there is 1 line where it is ‘pixelated’. Which is on the letter A for Range. This doesn’t affect the ability to read any of the options and the number values are fine

Hi Andrewday55,

The plate shows as still on the vehicle. And the car still comes up as ULEZ Compliant under the reg ‘M5 PXY’. Perhaps if you check again it will show. I have no reason to doubt that this will be affected when the plate is removed

Many thanks

Could you let us know how this went and if the knocking has gone? Thanks.

Hi Muckyman,

It wasn’t a ‘knocking’ noise but just a slight vibration in the steering wheel around the 60mph speed.

I have just gone to have the wheel balancing done and as expected, it was the issue. The wheels have been balanced now and I have gone for a drive and can report no more steering wheel vibrations. I also checked the wheel to see if any damage and there was no damage to note to the wheel. The photo shows it’s all as should be, and definitely no cracks and never been welded.

Good luck to all bidding, it really is a great and fun drivers car

Great looking car,

Have the sills ever been repaired?

If not any signs of corrosion?

Hi BritishBeef,

Yes both sills have been attended to within the last year. There is currently no signs of corrosions on the sills and shouldn’t be in the future now that it’s been done

And thank you, the colour combination is great and a real head turner. The garage today where I had the tyre balancing done were very impressed with the colour combination and how good the interior looks

Many thanks

Have you started the number plate change with DVLA yet?
If not, do you know how long it will take to have the change done and a new V5 issued (especially as it’s coming up to Xmas hols).
My brief investigation on this just tells me that you can’t sell the car (transfer ownership on V5) and retain the private plate at the same time, as the V5 transfer will immediately transfer the private plate to the new owner also.
I’m trying to judge when the car (and new V5) would actually be available for sale/collection.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your question. I was planning to remove the plate at point of successful sale. I spoke with DVLA and the information that I got was it is possible if done at the post office. I would retain the new keeper slip for the new owner which will allow to tax the car whilst driving away.

The specific forms will be filled out which will allow me to receive the retention document in the post whilst the new owner receives the new V5 in their name and age related plate

Alternatively, if yourself or the new bidder did want the registration with the vehicle. I am happy to sell it with the car for £350

Many thanks

….maybe just sell the car with the plate to avoid the hassle.
If making £350 is important to you, increase the reserve by that amount.
Personally, I’m put off by the inconvenience of going to a post office, transferring the plate and dealing with having new plates made and updating my insurance etc etc.
I would just want to come and pay/collect the car, with an online change of keeper that takes two minutes. I drive away, and all is sorted (without being expected to pay another £350)
But, that’s just me - others probably aren’t bothered by it smile
Cheers

Hi Michael,

You wouldn’t need to go to the post office. That’s something I would have done. I was going to retain the plate to put onto my other M5 that’s all.

But to make life easier, for yourself and any other interested parties… the M5 PXY registration will now stay with the car when sold, unless the winning bidder does not want it.

This means a simple process of payment and and online transfer of vehicle ownership and drive away straight after

Hope this helps and clarifies any potential problems

Good luck with bidding

Many thanks
