I'm partial to a 1,4 Seven. But yeah, pops and bangs on one?

Hi,
Was there a reason there was no photos showing the wet weather gear fitted correctly on the Caterham 7 or can you post them them if there are any?
Question to the other 2 postings:-

1.'Pops and bangs remap on a Caterham?' I'm out. And quickly too.

2. I'm partial to a 1,4 Seven. But yeah, pops and bangs on one?

To the unfamiliar....... can you explain what you both meant please? I have always wanted a Lotus/Caterham 7 even I am am not concern with having the more high powered version.

I haven't seen the car or come across this map before, but this is hardly a chavved up Fiesta. I suspect a pop and bang map on a Seven would be some crackles on overrun - probably wouldn't hurt to contact KMAPS who offer the service to get clarification on what this map offers.

They do it anyway from stock with a K Series and a short exhaust once they are nicely warmed up (just like an Elise with a K series does).

Kmaps have a good reputation, its unusual that the venn diagram of 'Caterham driver' and 'wants extra overrun crackle' over laps, but obviously not impossible.

All they have done is turn off/reduce the deceleration fuel cut. I would hazard that unless you were extremely familiar with a K series Caterham, if they hadn't told you, you probably would have assumed thats just how it is.

It wont be anything like a full bradford spec untaxed Golf R or Audi S3...

This is probably more like it, the K makes a good noise: https://youtu.be/LvUJckG3lRA?si=zKXxLsEY0dtB7H8D

Firefighter,

A remap is a new ECU program that can change the behaviour of an engine. Usually to produce more power, but they can be written such as to change other characteristics as well. 'Pops and bangs' remaps refer to remaps which produce artificial banging noises on overrun, typically loved by socially inept youths who think that having the loudest german car on the block is cool. They are the antitheses of a Caterham, and having a pops and bangs remap on a car like that would be crass in the extreme, hence the comments.

Hello. Did not fit the weather gear correctly because it was right in the end of the photo shoot and the photo was just to tell it comes with one. I used it once only 2 years ago and it worked fine other than that just tucked in the boot.

Not a car i would drive in the rain anyway

In all honesty the car is not any louder that it was.

The only difference it’s the nice sound of pops and bangs every now and then.

This was all done by a GP Sevens, a Caterham dealership and it’s something they do on several ocasions.

Good luck with the sale - like I say, lower power 7s are really appealing.

I appreciate the discussion on this car. I'm 56, and I love a pop and bang as a way of reclaiming my socially inept youth, so I will be a bidder. Interested to see where it goes.

Good luck with the auction.
