For a while now I’ve been trying to find a high spec late 530d Touring to replace my 2019 520d, but it’s proving hard with so few available. I contemplated a 7 Series but they are probably too big, plus I like the Touring practicality.

I’m now considering an X5 30d and trying to avoid the facelift ones with the big touch screen. A 2022/early 2023 seems the sweet spot as the interior looks a lot classier (dash design, having buttons for things like heated seats and even the graphics for speed etc is much nicer). Also concerned about the later cars driving aids becoming annoying.

Has anyone got a facelift interior with the big screen and preferred it in time? I’ve had a few loan cars and genuinely disliked it, but maybe it takes time and I’m wrong dismissing these models. The same thing (amongst others) is putting new off a new 5, or a fairly new M340d.

I recently changed my 2022 45e for a new 2024 build X5 50e and have the new interior.

I like it apart from the slightly chintzy <<X5>>>>>>> illumination on the passenger side. The lack of HVAC buttons is not a huge problem but the heated seats and steering wheel buttons I do miss. I think that the new iDrive (8.5) is a step backwards on the version in my previous X5, it's not as intuitive and I do miss the ability to set up short cuts using the preset buttons. The augmented reality turn view on the satnav is really quite good though.

With regard to the speed limit warnings, this is easily turned off every journey by a long press of the SET button on the steering wheel.

I think if they had integrated the large screen into my previous X5 and kept the rest of the interior the same it would have been perfect IMHO.

I have gone from pre-facelift X5 M50i to an M3 Touring and back to a pre-facelift X5.

I preferred the size of the curved display but disliked the IOS integration, the lack of physical buttons and the instrument cluster so on the whole my preference would be pre-facelift. Also, if you have leather dash, the curved screen makes this very nice option much less visible (so if you don't have it, maybe a good thing)
